Question Regarding Possible Cures In The Future

For someone who can't bother too much with new research due to the realistic timetable (which is probably still unknown at this point). Based on the little reading I've done, it seems like recreating your hair with cloning and what not seems closer than just stopping your hair loss completely.

I realize that most people on here probably need to clone their hair once things get real because we will have lost a lot on our head by then so I guess it's two separate problems but why am I reading so little about the possibility of just stopping hair loss completely by one action? Would also be cool if the people who regrew their hair with anti-androgens, minoxidil and what not can actually keep their hair because of a future cure and stop their normal routine.

We are still waiting for replicel to release their phase 2 results.

They are the only company who actually used the word cure on their website.

If phase 2 is a success, then they are allowed to go somewhat commercial in Japan. But all we can do is wait for those results, that should be out within a month or so.

Thanks for your feedback. Making some big assumptions - if their phase 2 is a complete success, they go somewhat (not fully) commercial, what do you expect the price tags to be? Obviously I assume the costs per patient will be significant in the early stages, but are we talking 4 or 5 digits for the therapy? Obviously assumptions, just curious what you guys feel and would be prepared to dish out for a permanent solution.

Shiseido spoke about price and positioned it around the equivalent of 1k USD. Of course however the procedure can best be viewed upon as a rejuvenation injection for your follicles - it doesn't prevent the balding process from progressing so you'd need the treatment probably annually to stay on top of things. Hopefully the results shed better light on these things.

I thought that it immunizes future loss with the dermal cup sheath cells, lasting possibly up to 5 yrs?

Their safety results seem to suggest otherwise . I believe their 5 year claim was based off the fact the dermal sheath cup cells would immunise hair follicles for a full hair cycle however i don’t think that will be the case . With Androgenetic Alopecia being a progressive disease, depending on your aggressiveness, the damage will continue . I hope I’m wrong though . Safety results weren’t overly promising .
