as it is shown, the long term use of finasteride is still unknown. the short term sides are quite obvious, many claimed that there are more than 2% of the population are suffering sides, some claim it wont go away even after stopping the drugs. It does not matter who is right and who is wrong, it is obvious all finasteride taker are risking their health on one end, for the sake of their hair.

Now, look at the result, finasteride taker may able to maintain, may grow thicker hair, but it sounds like the result will not be dramatic.

My question is, why don't we all do a hair transplant instead? It is less risk for our health and the result is way better.

Um, no. Firstly as someone said, you can't accurately assess the level of side-effects a drug produces on message boards, (much as in the same way you wouldn't assess the health of a nation in a hospital). These boards breed hysteria and are populated by clowns. I'm rather more inclined to trust Merck's double blind trials.

On the subject of hair transplants: Messy, obvious you've had something done, you have a great big fuckoff scar on the back of your head when you've finished (no more going skinhead unless you want to look like Frankenstein). Oh, and hideously expensive, and don't really solve the problem since the areas transplanted to are really diffuse (requiring use of toppik, which has its own set of problems).

Hair Transplants are a last resort, but I wouldn't agree that they always look obvious. For instance, the photos from Alvi Armani's website are pretty amazing.

Someone taking finasteride is "risking their health" at about an equal level as someone who drinks a nutra-sweet/aspartame sweetened soda.

In both cases, there are a miniscule percentage of folks who have serious trouble it.

Wrong, huge numbers of people have taken it for decades to treat BPH at 5mg ED.

That is the stupidest thing i have ever heard in my whole life. this guy is comparing a prescription drug sold at pharmacy counter known to have side effects to drinks sold at the supermarket. yes mr.gardener, theyre in the same category. Pharmaceuticals, food, automobiles, cleaning products, women's fashion, its all the same thing.

No, I am comparing a chemical used to treat hairloss with a chemical used to artificially sweeten drinks. A very, very small percentage of people have a condition called phenyl-ketonuria (PKU) which makes them very sick if they ingest aspertame. Yet, despite this, the vast majority of people enjoy drinks with nutrasweet in them in complete confidence and don't get into a wild scare frenzy about it. I was suggesting that the odds that finasteride would "put ones health at risk" are similar.

Ronaldkia, what is your problem? You're acting like you've blown a mental gasket.

yes gardener, lets just start selling finasteride on the shelves, since its only as risky as nutrasweet.
