Questions about Finasteride

Hi guys,

I just had some general questions about finasteride. I’ve tried taking it 2 times now, the first time was only for 3 or 4 months and I stopped due to sides. The most recent time was from January to the start of July so about 6 months. Both times I experienced sides such as lower libido//weaker erections.

If I got side effects from finasteride each time I was on it, is there no way for me to take it without sides? I tried varying doses, and the dose i took most consistently was 0.5 mg EOD. If i were to try 0.25 or 0.5 twice//three times a week could this help me maintain my hair and avoid sides? also is there any credibility to the transition theory of taking 1 mg once a week, then 1 mg twice a week and so on?

Sorry dude but if you have sides you have sides, no way around it. You can't change your genetics. Luckily I haven't experienced any sides yet. I've been taking it about 2 months now.

Are you 100% sure you had side effects? If that, they you can't really take the medicine. Well, you can but you will those effects and hope they subside. Clinical trials proved that erection problems lower to near placebo levels after 5 years of use but if I couldn't get a erection by watching a nice visual stimulus in optimal conditions (not stressed and so on) then I would drop the medicine.


By the way, I am extremely curious how you guys notice you have low libido. Just because you're not horny sometimes it doesn't mean you have a low libido. If you want to have sex with a woman and can perform without problems, then you don't really have a problem.


I think your partener should point out you have a low libido, you basically don't feel the need but how do you realise that? I don't think my love for ice cream has lowered just because I don't feel the need now.


Even better, go and see a doctor but keep an open mind. Nocebo is a real thing.

I was worried about side effects too, so I'm doing now 0.5, 3 times a week and I'm doing fine. Obviously everyone is different but if side effects is your concern maybe you could try with a different dose.

Just start off on a really low dose like 0.25mg every 2-3 days and work your way up from there, depending on sides.

I dont know if it was nocebo or real sides. I experienced loss of morning wood//weaker erections. If i were to try 0.25 or 0.5 MWF or Mon. Thursday is there a chance of me avoiding these sides at all. Or is it genetics and im just screwed and cant take finasteride?

do u think either starting on a lower dose, or weaning on to the medication by taking a couple times a week could help me avoid sides or can i not use finasteride?
