Hi I have a couple questions heading into actually doing something to reverse my hair loss. I've been slowly losing my hair for at least 15 years. However in the past 2 or so the loss has really increased.

I've been coming here off and on for a very long time to see if there are any new developments. It always seems like something is right around the corner, but nothing ever really comes.

So a few questions:
I'm concerned that if I start a treatment and a new treatment comes out that somehow the original treatment will alter the efficacy of the new treatment. Not sure if that can actually be answered. Any thoughts? Do current treatments have any adverse effects on each other? That is, if I stop one treatment then start another?

Anyways, that leads to my next thought. If I get on finasteride and experience sides, are they permanent even after I stop taking it? I've read horror stories, but are they blown out of proportion?

I like the potential of microneedling, but I remember reading in a journal that it can lead to wrinkles and potential cancer. Is this true?

Anyways I'm a fit, mostly healthy 39 year old male with a growing forehead (Norwood III I believe) who wants to regain his hairline with minimal side effects. Can rogaine alone be effective at my age?

I was your age with perfect hair and started a rapid decline. Try low dose Propecia to start. See if it helps after 9 months. Consider adding oral minoxidil 2.5mg. I did this in reverse and went straight for the 1mg Propecia and got sides.

Thanks. What's a good low dose Propecia to start?

something like 0.25 or 0.5mg three times a week

how often you take is more important than the dose
