Hi,
I have been doing both finasteride (2,5 mg per day) and dutasteride (0,5 mg per day) for 4 years now. I dont even remember why I started doing both, but however, that is what I have been on.
Do you think quitting only finasteride and still continue with dutasteride only will have any negative impact on my hair?

did you self prescribed both?
there is no rational on keep doing this.
are you asking this for a reason? do you experience any symptoms?

ive been doing both for 9months.
the logical answer is there is no point taking both as they are both from the same 'family' and do the same but dutasteride is stronger.
However, i went with this logic and dropped finasteride for a couple of days because i did not want to take both and my hair started falling out again and i was getting a few unwanted sides.
The response from other memebers why this could happen was that taking both drugs together is like a double dose and will be stronger.
In saying that, perhaps that was just the response my body got from dropping finasteride and not neccessarily be the same for you. BUT if both are seemingly working for you so far in combating hairloss i would advise to continue with your current regime.

You can take 4 times finasteride and 3 times dutasteride per week... What about the results? Any hair growth or bad side effects???

I have not yet had any side effects, however, keep taking 2,5 mg finasteride + 0,5 mg dutasteride for many years is probably not a good idea if only 0,5 mg dutasteride will give the same results on hair loss. I know that dutasteride alone usually works fine on hair loss. My concern now is that since I have been using both finasteride and dutasteride for so long, could my body have gained a form of tolerance to them, and therefore by quitting finasteride I could have a shedding or negativ impact on my hair?

Did you end up going back to finasteride+dutasteride or are you still only on dutasteride? How has your results been on this?

There is no need to combine dutasteride and finasteride, you can drop the finasteride and you will be fine, you are just wasting money by using both.

i went back on finasteride 4 days after i stopped. If i could i would only take duta but i tried that and didnt end up well. Perhaps for you its ok, the general opinion is that you dont need to take both, even doctors will tell you this

this makes no sense

you cant experience sudden hair fall from discontinuing Finasteride for only TWO days

especially considering you're also on Dutasteride

this is incredibly bad pseudo-science
