I used krikland minoxdil for about 2 weeks and i felt that my heart beat go CRAZY- I stopped!

since then, my hair has been sheding like crazy and ive never had any kind of shedding- dont know what to do!

im 22 in 1/5 norwood scale
questions
1. is it possible that it happend to me only becuase i put 0/5 ml each side of my tempales rather than puting 1 ml over the whole head?
2. do i realy need to worry that i made everything worse by using minoxdil for two weeks?

***of course i made an appointment with the dermatologic but i'd be happy to hear your opinion for the meantime
***i noticed some new hairs on the tempales

thanks in advance

This makes sense. Minoxidil has a shed associated before regrowth. Since you were only on it for 2 weeks, you shed the hairs and stopped using it before it could promote regrowth. As a result, you're only shedding the hair without getting the benefits of regrowth.

It shouldn't really be an issue, eventually the hair that was shed on Minoxidil will grow back to where it initially was. It might take longer than expected, especially if it was thin hair and grew slowly. Visually, it might look worse, but I don't see how Minoxidil can make it any worse permanently. That's the risk with Minoxidil, you either have to use it for around a year... or not at all. Otherwise you end up with sheds, without getting the complete regrowth. The worst thing about Minoxidil is if you shed hairs that would have otherwise shed months from now, and those hairs come back finer, or less noticeable. Ultimately, it would have happened anyway... but at least you could have had a few more months of it, I guess?

YEAH but the thing is that i want to use minoxdil, but the rappid heart bit was realy sceary and i think it happend only becuse ive put 0/5 ml on each of my tempales. as far i understand when people use minoxdil they only drop few drops on each area. I realy hope that i just used it a bit too much and id be able to use it again and be able to prevent balding for at least 15 years and than hopfully will be a sulotin for balding

For me, I already had some palpations before starting minoxidil and when I used it at first I had increased palpations and heart rate for a short period after using it, admittedly I used a lot. Oddly enough, after a week or 2 of continuing use I had almost no palpations anymore, even less than before starting minoxidil and heartbeat is normal after applying. Too bad it doesn't want to do sh*t for my hair

It sounds like the minoxidil went systemic, meaning your skin absorbed a high amount into your bloodstream. It also sounds like you would be a good responder to minoxidil.
Just use a small amount over the area of concern and wash your hands and such after application. I also had the same rapid heartbeat but I was using all over head.
If you continue getting a rapid heartbeat then maybe discontinue use.

minoxidil gave the the same thing after about 4 months of use. Also daily headaches that got worse and eventually chest pains that made it hard to breathe. Throw the sh*t in the garbage and get on finasteride.

Yea that'll get it in the bloodstream but you will get all the sides if you continue using with dermaroller. Just a trade off

Hey folks, I've been using minoxidil for about 7 months and have been unfortunately having similar adverse reactions, such as shortness of breath.
I've since reduced the usage to once per day Monday to Friday and I'm glad to say it seems to still be working, but I still feel not quite right from it.

My question is this... Considering my sensitivity to minoxidil, will reducing it to once per day for three days per week (ie: Monday, Tuesday, Friday) still have benefits, or will such a sparse application only cause the initial shedding stage to perpetually reset?

And if the latter, would it be best to quit altogether?

Thanks in advance

My doctor told me, to use it only once a day. For the mintime, he told me to wait one month ,not to apply anything and than we'll consider the opstion

Thanks for the reply osif. Well if the doctor is saying either stop completely or reduce to once per day I guess it means there's no room to play with between those options. Is the doctor general or hairloss specialist?
