I've been dermarolling for a few months now but thought I'd create a thread to update progress from now on.

My regimen: 1 × week 1mm, hard and fast with lots of pressure all over nw1 area

So far I think there may have been slight improvement(nothing cosmetic) with some small dark hairs forming on temples.

Pics attached are current hairline and pics from today's sessions to show the damage haha.

Hopefully If I have success I can be a valuable resource for others, dermarolling is still very anecdotal and people can't yet agree what method is best

Would be nice if some clinical studies would be put together showing comparisons of results using different methods (rolling for absorption vs rolling for neogenesis, etc)

Since October I've been rolling lightly for absorption multiple times a week. I was on the fence about how much good it is doing, but after getting a nice haircut last week I am now confident I am getting continued enhancement and improvement from it. I am starting to become a believer and think that with dermarolling we possibly have the Big 4 right now

I also recently got a 1.5mm dermastamp and I've been considering adding wounding in as well, maybe once every other week or something

How much did the dermastamp cost you? Would add it so I could do crown also, crown is easier to get results as thickening is easier to get than appreciable cosmetic hair growth in new areas

It was like $7 (US dollars) on ebay. I just checked and the particular one I got is currently out of stock. Probably wouldn't be hard to find something comparable though

Jesus christ!? Are you suppose to bleed that much? I use a 1.5 every 2 weeks and never drew blood.
Its not as bad as it looks i only get a few droplets of blood the rest doesnt run blood. I dont even find it that sore so i go quite hard

I dermarolled for a while with a 1mm. Honestly, I don't think dermarolling alone is going to get your temples back, and even with minoxidil in addition to the rolling I doubt you'll notice any difference. I eventually stopped because it was painful and (seemingly) useless, but am now back to once per week with minoxidil applied immediately after just for the hell of it.

Hoping for the best, expecting not much tbh. Might get dermastamp for crown as only need a smaller improvement for real cosmetic difference. If brotzu doesnt come through it will be my next purchase

That's definitely way too hard man.. Keep that up and those hairs will never grow back due to scarring.

Good to see more people dermarolling!

I strongly suggest you to add minoxidil, i used some years ago with no success, but now its f*****g working

i dont know if increasead absorption or regenerative mechanisms triggered by wounding or something else is doing the trick

Im having solid regrowth, especially at the frontotemporal area, all over the NW3 zone and slowly recovering NW2.

Started last november with a 1.5 dermaroller a couple times per week followed by minoxidil,

kinda like the indian study,

Good luck! And please follow my advice with minoxidil ;)

Its an excellent idea to combine different skin disruption modalities. I am considering that too

And i fell you man, wounding + minoxidil is real, especially for lower NWs. I'm using Avodart since 2013 so i have stabilized the hairloss but what im achieving know is amazing

Here are some pics collected from studies and forers showing what this sh*t can achieve

Wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I'm 51, Norwood 6 and have been for at least 8 years. Couple of years ago, I bought a 1.5 mm dermaroller and half-heartedly went on a once a week regimen of rolling my entire bald area. I say half-heartedly because there were some weeks I didn't roll and eventually after about 4 months, I really rolled just when I felt like it. I also never used minoxidil and I am not taking any other meds. Last December, I decided to go all in with a regular minoxidil and micro-needling regimen. I bought a dermapen (Dr. Pen) and some Minoxidil Mx Plus (15% with finasteride in the concentration). From about mid-December, I was micro-needling once per week at the 1.5 mm setting, waiting 24 hours and applying the minoxidil and was applying minoxidil twice daily in between. In January, I increased the setting on the dermapen to 2.0 mm at once per week. In February, I started lightly rolling my mid-scalp only on a nightly basis prior to applying minoxidil along with a weekly micro-needling session once per week. I followed that session with an application of castor oil (to increase PGE2 levels). I have been doing this regimen faithfully since the end of February - rolling nightly with a 1.5 mm dermaroller, followed by an application of minoxidil, a morning application of minoxidil (no dermarolling) and a weekly session of micro-needling with the dermapen at a 2.0 mm setting followed by a thin application of castor oil. I wait until the following night to apply minoxidil again. I am cautiously optimistic that I am seeing a significant growth in vellous hairs and I can feel that my scalp is rougher in texture. In the past week, I have decided to alternate applications of minoxidil and castor oil following my nightly dermaroll. I am not about to declare this regimen a success but, without getting too optimistic, I am certain that I am getting results. At this point, I am only focusing on my mid-scalp/crown and not my temples.

Good to hear you are starting to see some results.

One of the guys from the pics i posted earlier was an advanced Norwood too. But it took him some time, like 1.5 years to see results.

His username was prettyfly something and the guy posted regularly on baldtruth and SAGA i think

Prettyfly is infamous - banned from this website I believe because he posted pics of his very aggressive dermarolling routine (his scalp look butchered). I would say that at the very minimum, the few terminal hairs I have in my bald scalp area are thicker and more pronounced. Could be the minoxidil effect, could be the dermarolling or the combo of both. It only makes sense that an advanced Norwood like myself would have to be more aggressive and be more patient than those with lower grade hairloss. I plan on sticking to the same routine for at least one year. Cosmetic results, if any, should manifest themselves by that point.

Na you are confusing him with 2youngtoretire. That greek was reaaly smart but feally crazy too lol

The guy im talking was doing 1.5 mm dermarolling and he was going very light. But like i said, he has one of the best frontal recoveries i ever saw, without counting people on tranny regimen of course
