Since I began to bald at the tender age of 18 (and fully realizing it at 19) I grew up a lot.
I am now 21 and NW3.5, with grown out hair. I think hair is part of a man as much as his nose or his eyes.

Buzzing it all down.. it would make me a bald loser, who pitifully tries to 'hide' it by bicing or buzzing.
I think my hair, although very bad looking (curly-ish thinning top and NW3 hairline), still gives me and my face some kind of personality.

Once buzzed, you become a loser, a low class peasant. It's incredible: I'm 100% sure bald people are poorer, lower class than fullheads or NW2's. Furthermore, biced people all look the same, they lose their appearance and 'outer' personality. No wonder the military shaves the heads of soldiers: individuality has no place in war.

Since I began to bald, I realized hair is 50% of a man's appearance. Bic the hair and MAGIC happens: the handsome chad becomes ugly or below average if his facial aesthetics are perfect-Greek god tier. The slaying introverted guy becomes a creepy depressed baldite. The high flying career-driven rainmaking man becomes a greedy capitalist. The brilliant, funny professor becomes a creepy, offsetting figure. The party guy (this hit my feels more than anything), is a party guy no more, and stops getting invited to parties. The social media guy stops posting photos.

Why should we cope with this?
I started finasteride two and a half months ago. If I were a practicing religious man, I would pray every day and every night this dangerous drug works. Did it work for anyone of you?

If you think you are a loser, then nobody here can help you.

Some hairlosstalk members would say: "Welcome aboard the loser train."

But I think you are too harsh to yourself

I'm not a loser, but I very well will appear as one if I will end up my journey in the NW6 side. That's where my genetics are heading me.
That's how society sees us. Balding is not as bad as bald. Once bald, half of the population (the most shallow) will look down upon you even if you're 100 times superior than them. Reality is crazy.

There are many bald Profs, you think they think about it so much (maybe, maybe not)
Balding is an illness, like cancer, skin diseases .... other.

All bald professors I had (and still have since I'm in college) showed some kind of coping with it. Some joked about it. My jewish calculus prof, bald as a rock, joked about the Rouche-Capelli theorem being His theorem because Capelli means hair in Italian. Anyway they are all old or very old: being bald is part of being old. Our problem is being young, and bald.

Yes of course, once you're bald or balding everything can end with "at least I'm not bald" and you lose any argument.

I think it's more subtle than that. People won't like you anymore once you're bald and young. You reach the completely dehumanized stage of existence. Blacks should thank God and Michael Jordan because they can be bald and still be considered handsome, party invite worthy and job position worthy.

Yea, once I am bald I am going to have to pray to god I can stand a hair piece

Honestly afraid if I have to walk around bald I will kill myself. I'm already very socially awkward and awkward in general so walking around bald would basically be a death sentence

That or acquire enough money to become a hermit and live in the mountains

People rarely get regrowth from finasteride. Get on minoxidil, save up for a hair transplant, change your diet and get jacked. Do whatever it takes to better yourself.

Are you telling me finasteride actually does nothing cosmetically? I had some doubts about its effectiveness because there are hardly any success stories on the Internet, but this hits me.

Minoxidil is a pain in the ***. Once I hit the 6 months mark I will evaluate the situation on finasteride. As for now, 2.5 months in, absolutely no effect whatsoever: still shedding, increasingly thinning front, no hair on temples. I just want to live a normal young man life. I'm just more than a teenager.

Usually, at best it will slow down loss or keep it at bay.
If you are extremely lucky it might thicken up some/give some regrowth.

I used to think minoxidil was a pain in the *** aswell, 5months in and it has just become a routine like brushing my teeth. I dont really pay it any thought.

Propecia inhibits key neurosteroids and hormones which can lead to suicidal depression, anxiety, panic attacks, sexual dysfunction. And if you get hit with these sides they may be irreversible.

It depletes Allopregnanolone in the brain, and if your endocrine system can't handle the changes your entire body can crash.

Use topical finasteride so it doesn't go systemic, RU58841 topical solution, use minoxidil, low level laser, do not kill DHT systemically, the side effects can be disastrous. Wear a hair piece,

Or embrace your baldness.

I don't like this kind of terrorism. You know you have to back your claims.

Been at it for 4 1/2 years. Havent thickened up or given me any regrowth. But it has definately slowed it down, stopped recession, but gradually lower density over the course of theese years. No noticeable sides except for the first weeks, eased myself into it with dosage of 0.5mg

Minoxidil hasnt done jack sh*t, atleast from what i can tell. Probably too late.

The medical journals are out there proving this. Go look for yourself. It has been proven by science.

You are playing Russian Roulette with your life taking this drug.

You do know there are class action lawsuits with drug? The drug maker even admitted this drug can cause permanent side effects.

I hope you'll get something out of this man. Which Norwood was your benchmark when you started?

We need human experiments. The animal test is just one of the first steps. Almost everything (from drugs to treatments) fails the human test, so this proves nothing. I think your fear is hypochondriac.

Also no drug is side free. I am willing to take a 3% (at worst) risk.

Just get rich as Soros brah, who cares if you baldite then :D. Throw on a wig and play as close as possible to the role of god.

And yes finasteride is overall very effective for most people. You can consider a hair transplant if you have stabilized your hair loss.
