Whats harder to regrow? a receeding hair line or a diffuser?

From what i gather a diffuser has a lot better chance of going bald cause they are pretty much falling out all over, but can't a receeder receed into baldness as well?

I know its genetic, but is there a actuall patern to the whole thing?

Plus if you see signs of MPD and treat it with the big 3 and other things, is there anyway to not be effected by DHT for the rest of your life? or is hair transplant the only way to truely rid yourself of that?

sheesh, and i thought when i had a zit on my face that it was horrible... I'd take a bunch more for my hair back :p

there is no set answer.

the hairline is the hardest to regrow, so if you are primarily a receder then it may be tough to get much regrowth.

Diffuse thinning is much less noticable in the early stages, and supposedly responds best to treatment. However, If you have aggressive diffuse thinning, then you can go totally bald on top really fast.

Some receders simply slow or stop their receding naturally after a period of time. Some diffuse thinners go through a cessation or slowing of loss, too. Its all genetics. The treatments will hopefully stop the progression or reverse it mildly.

receeder over here. After about 2 months on minoxidil...I see some slight regrowth in the front. I say this a million times...Catch your hairloss early!

I think diffuse thinning looks much worse, had a boss and the whole top of his head was covered with thin microscopic hairs all uniform. It was so stupid looking on him. No offense to anybody here but I am being honest. I myself would rather be in his shoes because rogaine would pump those hairs back to normal and Propecia would keep them there. All his hair was there only shrunken.

I have receding temples and a hole in my Vertex which is very hard to regrow hair on, though it may not look as bad.

Both are equally bad if they are happening to you.

Being a diffuse thinner myself, I think diffuse thinner is definitely worse than receding. Yeah, you might have your hairline, but nothing much above it! It's also bad because if you don't respond well to medication, or the medication doesn't agree with you, there's nothing much you go do. At least a receder can get a hair transplant, where a diffuse thinner (especially an aggressive one) doesn't really have that option.

On a side note, I always noticed people often suffer from both receding hairline, and diffuse thinning on the crown, but usually a person suffers more from on than another. I guess you're really screwed (maybe screwed is a strong word, but you're unluckily to ever have a decent head of hair again) if you have agressive loss in both areas.

I am agressively diffuse thinning and I think it was better for me in the less noticable stages, but as I progress into the stages where it is becoming more and more noticable I can surely say it goes from being ok to horrible over night. It also sucks when you can't even use any product in you hair or you'll see right throught to the scalp. You flatten or comb over your hair to hide things. Your hairline might not receed but it gets so thin that people can see right through it. Plus I think most people would notice a diffuse thinner balding far before they would a receeder.

You would be surprised how the average person doesnt pay attention to hairloss. Before i started loosing my hair if you asked me if kevin costner had hair problems I woulda said no his hair is fine. But now being more educated I would notice that he is like a NW3. Girls really dont notice guys hairlines. Some guys that are NW3's if they have the right hairtype and cut girls will think their hair is fine. But some guys that are NW3's look bald.

My hair is alot like STEVE STIFLERS hair. If you look at him walking down the street you think his hair looks fine. But if you really look at his hair you can tell he is receding. If he combs his hair forward he can cover the receding pretty good but you can still tell. If his hair is wet or combed back you can tell he is receding even more. His hair is like exactly like mine.

being that i have a receding hairline and i'm a diffuse thinner, i thought i'd say, the hairline is more of a burden(in my opinion). The thining is easier to improve and if your hairline is fine, then you can just shave your head.
