I've been reading through a lot of these forums and it seems most people using propecia see success in the crown of their head. I was wondering if propecia helped people like me who have big forheads and receeding temples?

Thanks.

Hey big black.

I have a pretty bad receding hairline (resulting in a large forehead) and some noticeable loss on my crown area..

I have been on propecia for about 8 months and have definitely seen some improvement and regrowth around the crown area. To be honest, Propecia has not really helped my hairline a whole lot (in terms of regrowth - it's definitely maintaining the remaining hair I do have tho.)

Depending on your age, I would 100% recommend you get on Propecia ASAP. If not your hair will just get worse and worse.... If you keep on waiting without taking any action (like I did) chances are you will NOT be able to regrow what you have lost. Prior to starting on Propecia, I was on Rogaine for about 4 years, however my hairloss got so aggresive even Rogain began to lose it's effectiveness. (I'm 24yrs old.)

In my opinion, it all depends on what type and the degree of hairloss you have. If your a diffuse thinner, chances are Propecia will wonders. If your a receder, in the the majority of cases propecia does not work that well (prob maintains at best.)

If you do decide to start on Propecia.... just expect to maintain. Anything else (i.e. frontal regrowth) is a bonus.

Yeah, I mean I still have a decent amount of hair. I am good at hiding my secret. It'd be nice to keep what I have even if I only only lasts till my late 20's or early 30's. I hear there aren't any drugs/treatment that help with receeding hair lines.

I just posted a response like this.... funny you mentioned how happy you'd be if it lasts until ur early 30's because that's exactly what's happened to yours truly.

FOR SURE take propecia NOW. It maintained ALL my hair with only tiny recessions over the past 10 years. Only recently has my hair started to thin at age 32 - primarily at the temples and a bit overall.... mainly miniaturizing and what not. Of course I can't know for sure, but I'd say it stopped/slowed a receding hairline at least for some amount of time that may vary depending on the person.... If you're happy with results lasting 10 years or so then great. I may have said that too, but I'll tell you, the fact that it might have worked for 10 years isn't making me feel any better right at this very moment. For you though.... even if propecia only lasts 10 years, you'll probably have the option of getting HM by then.

Good luck..... get the meds!
