Recently stopped birth control and my hair is coming out

Hello,

I am 28 and my hair has been thinning for years. you can see my scalp all though the crown. A couple of months ago I stopped taking my birth control because I was no longer in a relationship. Within a very short time, my hair started thinning extremely fast and now you can see even more scalp. I saw on this site that some alopecia can be caused by stopping birth control. Will it grow back if I go back on it... or will it come back at all if I don't go on the pill?

It's so embarrassing and unattractive.

Hi there.
I am having the exact same issues. My hair is naturally thin, androgen alopecia runs on both sides of my family. I have been using nioxin for the last year and a half and that seemed to help me keep the hair I had. I recently came out of a relationship and stopped using the birth control pill. Now it's been about two months and my hair is falling out and my scalp is very bare on top. I went to my dermatologist and she suggested starting the pill again, staying on the nioxin hair care and adding minoxidil 2% twice daily.
How is your situation and did you find anything that helped??
