Red meat- is it bad?

Was just reading an article by a dr I follow, he's usually pretty good but of course not perfect. The article is run down of basically ever bad thing that can happen to your body if you eat red meat.

I went through four or five of the articles he cited yet they all seem to suffer the same problem- they don't appear to seperate out processed red meat from red meat, though I couldnt access all of the studies.

There is a member on this site who has mentioned this on his own blog as well.

Has anyone done some thorough research on this? Are there any studies that just focus on red meat and red meat alone?

the article I was talking about with some of the studies cited-

I don't see what's wrong with occasional red meat. It's packed with protein and other nutrients.

Everything in moderation.

I read a piece somewhere that delved into how the French eat such a rich diet, yet seem to stay slim and avoid an epidemic of cardiovascular problems. It's not the "red wine" myth, nor the garlic, that accounts for this. What they found was that the reason why the French don't have health issues with their rich diet is that they eat SIGNIFICANTLY smaller portion sizes than Americans do.

It's full of testosterone and most likely increases DHT.
You aren't gonna find many people on this board who eat red meat

I thought it was because they ate less sugar and polyunsaturated fat?
That might be true as well, but this piece was focusing on portion sizes.
