Reducing sides from Finasteride

It was a good read. How are your results on 0.05mg/day though? No sides? and more importantly how is the hair progress?

And also what is your opinion on taking doses not everyday? I just moved from 0.5mg/every 3 days to 0.25mg/day cause I didn't think it was enough

Makes me happy that it was a good read! :)

I just started using 0.05mg/day so it's still very experimental to me but I will report back when I notice a change in hair and/or sides. I have been using Finasteride before but stopped due to sides after 12 months of usage, so I am confident that I will notice if the sides comes sneaking up on me again. The half-life of Finasteride is 6-8 hours so after 72 hours not much of the substance will be left in the body and no DHT will be blocked the last day before you take the next pill. if the half-life is 6 hours it means that 0.5mg will turn to 0.0019mg after 24 hours. I don't think it sounds like a good approach. Would probably work better with Dustaride where the half-life is 240 hours.

You did good choice to switch to daily doses.

Oh, for the love of Christ!! How many times do I have to keep explaining these things to people over and over and over?? The "half-life" of finasteride in the blood doesn't have anything to do with how rapidly DHT comes back!! It takes a week or two for that to happen, and it has to do NOT with the speed at which finasteride goes away, but the speed with which the enzyme that produces it (5a-reductase) comes back. 5a-Reductase is formed only very slowly. Sheesh.

haha, alright Bryan. I will add it to the article and hopefully fewer people will ask in the future. Thanks for the info, do you have any data to back this up? :)

There are numerous articles that you can get from finasteride studies, and they all show the same thing: graphs that show blood levels of DHT after the final dose of finasteride, and it takes a week (or even longer) for it to get all the way back to "normal".

Bryan,
Good info. Excuse me, I am new to the forums. Does this mean that you could take say 1 tablet a week? And still get positive results? My main concern is side effects. Right now I am only taking .25 every three days. What would you suggest to be the best dose for someone concerned about side effects?

Any updates on this? I have developed pseudo gyno while on 1mg per day, reduced down to .25mg. I have had to quit temporarily. Would like to find a way to be able to get back on it without this side effect.
