Reversing Minoxidil (Rogain)Side Effects

Hello,
I've been on Minoxidil for about 10 years and it has maintained my hair decently. About five years ago, I switched to the foam version which I was happy with, but I believe at this time I started to have heavy systematic absorption, but I did not become aware of it until recently. When i was around 23 (around the time of the change and increase to full dosage), I got dark circles around my eyes and more puffyness to my face. I am a very healthy eater, exercise a ton, and am very skinny. I just thought it was a bad case of genetics for a long time, and then just recently I realized these were all possible side effects of minoxidil usage!! Because I've been on it since 16, and at first had no sides, I didn't think much of it, but looking back at pictures, I've really let my face deteriorate a lot! I plan on going back to liquid at 1/2 a dose 1 time a day.

A few questions I was hoping to have answered:
1. Will the dark inset circles around my eyes go away eventually?
2. wil the puffiness of my face below the eyes go away?
3. Besides living healthy, is there anything I can do to better my situation?

At this point I was just thinking of buzzing my hair if I can get my face back to normal.

Thanks!
Dave

There's no way something like that can cause permanent puffiness or dark circles. Just quit it and it will go away with time. Are you sure it's just not your age? You can't look like before the treatment anyway, if it's been 10 years.

Yes, I don't expect to look like I did at 17 now that I'm 27, its just that the change was rather drastic and happened in a 2-3 year period. If I had been paying attention, I would expect that it happened in a much smaller period than that.

I've been off of it for around 3 days and I feel as though some of the puffiness that made me look like I had the face of a much heavier person has gone.

I realize that there is a significant chance for some placebo effect, so I've taken some baseline pictures of my face in very unflattering light. Thanks for the input.

From what I was experiencing between the liquid and foam versions.

The liquid version gave me very itch scalp, the foam isn't itch at all, but it's not nearly as effective.

No side effects that you've mentioned.

Foam was melt and drop into my eyes a couple of times, I hate it, but it does much better cuz I don't have red itchy scalp no more

I have a major puffy face from Regaine too, trying Vitamin C tablets to reverse it but no luck so far, think I'll stop using them and try Vitamin C+ Iron next.

I got dark circles from Regaine, but I just reduced the amount I apply and they are going (quite quickly, too).

People also need to remember it's in the late 20s that wrinkles and dark circles start appearing naturally anyway, but I have no doubts that minoxidil does this.

I don't think dark circles can be caused by a placebo effect. I have never had them (unless I am dead tired) but I started getting them with minoxidil.

However, when I started for the first month or so I had really dry skin under the eyes and I no longer have that, so I think that the body got used to it.

Minoxidil was designed to control blood pressure, so it's no surprise it's side effects are bloating and dark circle.

I asked people and they said they can't see them.

One thing with side effects is that we start to pay way too much attention to the things affected, so we pay more attention to wrinkles and probably think we have more than we did before using minoxidil.
