by what i am reading on this site, i am afraid of taking either,
and by taking both, then the fear of chest pains and heart attacks are gonna play head games with me.

i'm afrais i will cause myself to have an anxiety attack while i am on them.

anyway, i am desperate to get my hairline back.
i have receded a little, and my front is thinner than the back, from temple
to temple.
so my hair is thinner about an inch to back and behinbd that it is fine.
my back and sides are beautiful and thick, i just want the front to be the same.

what do i do>

minoxidil on the front only?
nizoral 2%?, i have been using 1% for 3 months now.
copper peptides?
arginine?
any growth stim shampoo's or topicals?

sh*t, that scares me.

i am interested in l- arginine, in big doses.
it is a safe amino acid that you need anyway.

i need to get more hair in hte front, and thicker individual hairs.

dammit.........

One thing I would say is don't take the population of this message board as an average cross section of the general public. People are here battling with hairloss and side effects. There are, probably, millions of users out there taking Finasteride with no sides.

Propecia and Rogaine have had no serious side effects for me. It's also growing my hair back quite well. Even a little in the front....However, I don't expect my hairline to ever be as thick as it used to.

Is L-Arginine in big doses supposed to help male pattern baldness?
Have there been any studies conducted?

Dont post topics with the heading, "Propecia and Rogaine cause chest pains?!!!!!!!" Unless you have actually had these symptoms and are quite definitve that these products are the cause of the problem. Month 7 of propecia and no side effects. thank you. You are going to scare newbies from using stuff that works, you havent even dropped a pill or put rogaine on your scalp and your already being a hypochondriac......so my advice would be to not take propecia or use rogaine, because as soon as you do I have a feeling you'll be on here with a lengthy list of pseudo symptoms...

Careful. I have also heard that L-Arginine taken in isolation increases free radicals in the bloodstream. That means cell damage, premature ageing.

There was a thread posted way back that detailed a lot of these aminos and their effects. I hope that someone on the board knows about this and can answer... because if another amino (whose name I cannot remember) is taken in conjunction with L-Arginine, the detrimental effects of the L-Arginine are counteracted.

An old trainer told me never to take large doses of single aminos in isolation. They are meant to be ingested in certain combinations that the body readily recognizes, and a preponderence of certain specific aminos in the bloodstream can be very harmful. Get advice from a nutritionist, or a boby builder, or someone who knows the territory. Just lookin' out for you, bud.

Thank you for being the apparent lone voice of reason... well, Marley too.

Just FOR YOUR INFORMATION, y'all, Minoxidil is a vasodilator and was actually initially used to TREAT hypertension. When they discovered hair regrowth as an unanticipated side effect, they began marketing it for hair loss.

I thought that when take with an antioxidant, such as green tea or a multivamin, that l-arginine 'negative effects' are counteracted.

I think you are right, that rings a bell. I now faintly remember the person who raised this issue saying that L-Arginine should be taken with a Green Tea supplement.
