Rogaine Foam and Noticeable Body/Face Bloating

Quick background...

Been on propecia/proscar 9+ years. May have slowed hairloss but its still progressing and getting more noticeable. Wanted to explore other options and felt 5% rogaine FOAM and Nizoral 2% was a good idea. I've been on the Foam for a little over a month.

In the beginning, I started using it 1x day, sometimes 2x at AM and PM. Sometimes to wet scalp sometimes not. For the last 5 or 7 days I've been using it 2x a day and applying it to a wet scalp all over the top, as I'm a NW3 with some diffuse thinning all over and some loss at crown. I'd say I definitely use at least a full cap (not 1/2 as suggested) each application and maybe even a little more than that to get coverage at temples, vertex, etc.

What's happening...

I'm a thin guy -- 5'10" and weigh about 145-150 lbs -- so any change in weight is very noticeable. Didn't notice any side effects as far as bloating or water retention in the first few weeks. But yesterday, I NOTICED my stomach has more bulk to it, as do love handles, I can even see/feel it a bit in my thighs and butt. My cheeks have puffed up a bit too as well. Definitely noticeable to and not psychological at this point.

What do I do?

I want to stay on minoxidil since I believe it is effective for a lot of people, but not at this kind of cost. Am I over saturating my body with the amount of minoxidil I'm using and by applying it to a wet scalp? What would you guys suggest? Should I stop using it until bloating is gone and then get back on it 1x a day, not apply to wet scalp, etc?

For now I'm going to lay off of it until bloating subsides.

Thanks!

have you a red-burning face from Foam or other minoxidil?

No, my face isn't red and burning. Just a little heavier looking since it seems to have retained some water -- chubbier cheeks. Not too bad right now, but I notice it.

Quick Question...

I've gone to dry scalp 2x a day. Still seeing some bloating in face and body althought not as terrible as it was.

If I apply 1x a day...even a full cap, I don't see side effects.

Has anyone reduced Foam side effects by applying Liquid in the PM and Foam in the AM? How about general effectiveness overall?

Results are very possible at one application a day although not as effective as twice a day, If a one time application is not giving you sides then you should stick to that dosage. I would not add liquid if the foam was giving you sides, the liquid is supposed to absorb better or so I have heard.
