Rogaine Foam and spironolactone 2%/5%

Hi everyone,

Looking to add an alternative DHT blocker to my regimine and after some research, I've narrowed it down to http://www.minoxidil.com's spironolactone 2% liquid or spironolactone 5% cream. Was heavily considering Revivogen but could not find enough positive results to warrant the high cost.

Any recommendations? Which works better with Rogaine foam? Tips/advice on application would be great too.

Thanks in advance.

Using Revivogen with Rogaine Foam is easier than using spironolactone 5% Cream and Rogaine Foam. This is mainly because Revivogen is only applied once a day. Whereas the spironolactone cream is recommended to apply twice a day.

you should use all three. Maybe just apply the spironolactone once a day. Better than not at all.

I've been using spironolactone for 4 months now and do't really find it that hard to use at all. I guess it depends where you wanna apply it. I apply it on my hairline and crown and temples.

Kiel, can you go into more detail on topical spironolactone, like how much you apply and how you style it?

Sure, I take a shower in the morning towel dry my hair and then blow dry the remainder up. My hair is pretty "puffy" so I don't use any product I can just blow dry it and it makes a nice flip. I next apply rogaine foam (half a cap full) to my hairline temples and crown. 15 minutes later after the rogaine dries I dip my fingertips into the spironolactone 5% container so that a little dab is on each tip. I then spread my fingers and go right across my hairline and rub it in down to my temples. Next I use the spironolactone 2% and add a few drops to my crown and spread it evenly. I do this every morning and night before I go to bed and have been for almost 4 months.

How come the weaker 2% for the crown?

I am mostly wanting crown regrowth at this point.

My crown has filled in more than anything else so I cannot get in there really good with the cream. I find it easier to use the liquid for application purposes. The crown I just want to maintain at this point. If I had no regrowth there I'd be fine with that at this point.

Sounds like a problem I'd like to have, so I'll try the 5% stuff then... Do you know if it made you shed at all?

no it doesn't trigger a shed at all. It just stops DHT and testosterone from binding to the follicle as soon as you apply it. I've heard if you apply it 3 times a day it does more for you. I guess its effects only last 6 hours or something like that. If you order from minoxidl.com Dr. Lee will answer any questions you have quite thoroughly

Kiel, does applying the spironolactone cream to the hairline present a hassle when it comes to styling or does it dry fast? I ask because I work with rogaine foam and would need the cream to be ready fast enough for me to then go to work/classes.

Ummm... well when you use it you are only supposed to use a very very little bit. It would be similar to rubbing thick sunscreen in your hair. It is does change my hair at all when I style using it. I just make sure none gets in my hair itself and just on the scalp.

Kiel, do you notice any smell with the 2% lotion?

I've been interested in the Dr. Lee's 5% cream because it isn't supposed to smell. Would it be practical to put that in your hair? I've got diffuse thinning and I'd want to put it in areas with hair. Perhaps I'd use it before bed or anytime when my hair is buzzed. I think I'll be doing a #2 buzz every summer from now on.

The 5% honestly doesn't smell the 2% def does smell a bit especially when mixed with rogaine... however the smell is not nearly as bad as people claim it to be. I am applying the spironolactone cream right in my hair and I am able to rub it in. I just find it easier to use the liquid 2% on the back... if I really wanted to I could just use the cream and rub it in.

I purchase it from Dr. Lee on Minoxidil.com only thing that sucked was that the first time I ordered he charged an extra 20.00 consultation fee which made no sense to me to have to pay. I'm not a cheap skate by no means but just thought it was rather odd.

I use the 5% spironolactone cream also and find it has no smell at all and is easy to apply. I only use it once a day.

Oral spironolactone is for the crazy people or people who don't want sex.
