Rogaine foam may be great, but it’s a joke that…

Rogaine was approved by the FDA in 1988, and in 1995 it was approved to sell over the counter.

So Rogaine has been 18 years on the market!

I’m sure they must have had many complaints and suggestions over 18 years.

My question is: How come that in 18 years of existence they never tried to make a more user friendly formula?

How about a PPG free formula like Dr. Lee’s minoxidil. Rogaine is not cheap and it’s not like Pfizer doesn’t have enough fundings for experiments or FDA-Regulated Clinical Trials.

So after 18 years all we get is a foam and everybody is jumping with joy.

I think that after nearly two decades we should have gotten a super formula that grows hair out of our nostrils and reaches our butts.

strat I hear you.
rogaine foam costs 12.5$ per month (sams club or costco). Dr. Lee's ppg free minoxidil costs 18$ per month and 16$ for low ppg minoxidil.

Is the Foam as good as the Original Rogaine? (in terms of regrowing hair)

Even though it's something little like converting minoxidil into a foam solution it's an improvement (from what i've read) over the rogaine liquid. Look how long the public didn't have any treatments before minoxidil and propecia was introduced fairly recently. I think any improvement no matter how small is something to be excited about. It's different than anything else out there so atleast they're making some kind of progress.

And about the increase in the success percentages-

I'm thinking that they just got luckier with this group of volunteers and more of them happened to be better responders so their success rate was a little better.

Does anyone else have any ideas or know why the foam seems to have a higher chance of working than the liquid?

bluechips and falloutboy,

This is my guess/prediction.

Foam doesn't contain ppg and hence can be on my scalp 24 hours without having to wash 3 hours after minoxidil solution (even low ppg minoxidil gave problems for me).

The higher percentage of sucess from foam is probably due to better delivery system with the foam, no ppg and hence no irritation, no ethanol which means the skin does not get affected (not sure about this).

When I first started rogaine, I didn't have any irritation problems. slowly my scalp started getting irritated. My crown was the worst and the rogaine didn't work in the places I had the most irritation. My feeling is that the irritation will get to you in a year, 5 years, 10 years or may be in 20 years. The foam will help us use it for life without irritation problems.

Dr. Lee will probably lose most of his customers in a year. Ever wonder why Dr. Proctor doesnot deliver his products through ethanol?
I asked him once if alcohol was necessary for proper delivery and absorption. He said no!

I'd love to find that study on the foam.

I want to know if it's not systematically absorbed as much!

I'm growing so much body hair from Proxiphen, and even though it might not be the minoxidil because there's so much in there, i'm suspicious. Dr P recommended I go down to every 2nd day with proxiphen, however I don't want to lose any benefit.

If this foam isn't absorbed as much, i'll use proxiphen every second day and prox-n and the foam on the other days.
