Rogaine foam - possbile sexual side effects? I'm worried

I am using Rogaine foam for 2 months, twice per day. I donno if minoxidil is the cause but i lost all my libido in this period. I am having sex with my gf only cuz she wants it but i have no desire at all. Nothing! I am not taking any other pills or other treatment for hair loss or for something else. And another strange effect is that my semen quantity decreased a lot. Now it's like 40% from what i had before. I am 35 and i have no heart disease, diabetes or any other illness.

Can minoxidil cause this things? I'm a little bit worried.

decrease of blood flow to your penis has nothing to do with "desire". I have never heard of sexual sides. Could be psychological/stress induced since most men get depressed etc from hair loss.

Take 2% at night, it will be better,
I think it's because your bloodflow decreases

I thought of that but i read only 5% twice per day will work.

Psychological/stress it is not. I am losing my hair since 2010 so this it's not the cause. And other cause of stress i don't have. All is ok in my life. Maybe it's a coincidence or maybe not. Anyway i don't wanna stop using rogaine, at least 6 months to see if it has effect. But what if Rogaine did something wrong for my sexual life....

I had a problem like that on finasteride but minoxidil hasn't had any effect whatsoever on me in that regard, all I get is the black circles under my eyes, if it did I would drop it immediately. maybe reduce the amount you use and try 1x a day

Go down to dealing with side effects, just noticed a thread there so obviously others have had the same problem, minoxidil messes with blood flow so who knows, but seriously it could be psychological, the brain can do some weird stuff, Good luck

You're definitely not the only one Gambino. minoxidil was my first line of action, I knew nothing about the sides before taking it. Two months in and it hit me, my libido went way down. At the time I remember thinking what the hell, where has this come from. My health was fine and don't recall being stressed out in the slightest. When I dropped minoxidil within a few days everything was back to normal. I've lost a lot of ground since hair wise, pretty much all over but more so at the temples and frontal part of my scalp. Decided 2 and a half months ago to jump on finasteride....so far no probs, but don't like talking or even thinking about it as it's to soon to tell. Hopefully, fingers crossed, I'll be a good responder. I'm a diffuse thinner and have heard more positive news with how finasteride responds with diffusers. Personally,I believe in the hint that Saintsfan said......It does seem to mess with blood flow. Saying that, I'd love to give minoxidil another go...maybe at a lower does. Desperate to see some regrowth.

I also wonder if I applied too much to a small area which I did do on my temples, considering that the recommended dose is 1mg twice daily for everyone I guess. I dunno.

Ok maybe there is no link between libido and minoxidil but in my case there's a very strange coincidence....meaning after 7-8 days of using Rogaine foam my libido disappeared 100%. I mean nothing, nada, zero, 100% gone. I was never in this condition and i repeat i am not stressed or similar. And the libido disappeared not only when i am with my gf but in general. I'm like a stone. Hmmm....

Anyway what's the point of applying it twice per day if they say after you put it on your head the minoxidil lasts 22 hours? So why the second applying is needed?

I'm glad i'm not the only one with libido problems. I should try a few days without Rogaine and see if all will come to normal.​

When I have calculated I have noticed you stopped that like 1 week . It is still soon . give it 1 week more , I hope everything gets better for you my friend and I never had seen this problem before , So you can consult with the doctor too . Maybe the problem is not because of Rogaine.

Its usually finasteride that causes the drop, finasteride really can make existing hairs more thicker and add new growth but usually don't expect any growth in the places that matter ie the head...

minoxidil side effects are usually dark circles around the eyes and puffy face....

Reducing minoxidil or finasteride ie once a day or every other day seems to help according to most frequent members around here, I have only been using it for 6 years.

If your less randy the cures simple for guys, just dont masturbate or have sex for 2-3 weeks and you will get horny and get that urge back...

Can you give us an update on your side effect status? Did it ever improve? I have the same problem. Its been 3 months since stopping and still no improvement.
