Rogaine for 1 year, starting Propecia?

Hi everyone,
I'm almost 22 and have some slight thinning on the temples, although my family doesn't have hair loss history other than my grandfather on my mom's side. I've been on Rogaine since 1 year. I've recently noticed some minor thinning on the middle, which my dermatologist told me is either nothing or really minor thinning, after which he recommended me to take Propecia along with Rogaine for best hair results. I heard it's good if I take both at different times, in which case you notice if both are useful.
My main concern is - can taking Propecia now, a year after taking Rogaine, take off everything that Rogaine did for me? Are there any special side effects I should be aware of when using both? And is it worth it? All I want to do is maintain my hair.

Can anyone recommend me what's best? Did anyone have experiences similar to mine?

Thanks

they are two different drugs that do two different things.. minoxidil grows hair while propecia prevents it from falling out. it's actually best to use them both for maximum results..

minoxidil 2 times a day and propecia once a day. there is no difference when you use them just as long as you use both of them..

i just started taking propecia a week ago having been on minoxidil for the last 5 months..

I forgot to ask: I was reading somewhere that Propecia has been effective for people between their 20s and 40s - does this mean after you reach 40 you have to stop it? and what about Rogaine is it the same way?

You'd have to use these two for as long as you want to maintain your hair, I believe. If somehow your genes are too strong, they might not be able to hold their ground. By that time, hopefully something new will come out.

And I'm not aware of any age limitations on both drugs. Afterall, Propecia was originally used for benign prostate hyperplasia, which generally happens in older men.
