Hi guys,
Visited my dermatologist for male pattern baldness and he suggested PROPECIA first and recently told me to get using ROGAINE 5% topical medication.
After a couple of days of application i am seeing my skin around the ears turn red and very itchy, kind of scars you get when we have sun burn.
My ears have really dried up, so much so that i need to apply some jelly cream to keep them moist.
Also funnily, i notice some slight palpitations on and off during the day, but not too severe.

Never experienced these symptoms, so thinking it must be related to the ROGAINE medicine.
I was initially on PROPECIA and ROGAINE, but stopped PROPECIA as i had the side effects from PROPECIA.
Now i had the following questions.

1) I am a NW3 going very fast to NW4, so will ROGAINE help me in anyway, dont want to risk my long term health ?
2) Currently applying a 1 ML solution morning and evening, should i reduce this to 0.5 ml application, has any one experienced such symptoms before.

I would switch to the foam. It doesn't cause the same irritation. I would also apply it once a day at night to a DRY scalp. It sound as if your body maybe over absorbing the medication. Applying the solution to a wet scalp can cause this. Make sure you don't apply too much of the foam. Good luck.

What were your sides on propecia?

Thanks Follically Handicapped.
I will try the foam version and update you.
PROPECIA seemed to work fine, for a period, but i noticed my sexual drive drastically reduced, though this was fine by me, i still could manage it when required.
The main side effect i faced, don't know whether others got this.
My dick just had this burning sensation most of the time, and by the 4th week on it i could not bear the burning sensation, the most severe was while trying to piss.
I decided to come off it, will try probably later, but i guess the drug interacts too much with my body.
While i was on it, i did notice one thing though, i used to shed lots of hair daily, for that 4 week period my shedding was drastically reduced, so the drug does work but unfortunately i had to come off it due to this constant pain.

Rogaine will help you, but I think you should lower your dose. I've had the same issue, I reduced the dose, now I only suffer from minor itchiness, and it's a bit occasional. If you're getting side-effects, chances are that minoxidil is working for you, so keep at it.
