Rogaine vs other minoxidil?

I typed this in another thread and decided to make an independent topic.

Does anyone know the difference between Rogaine and other minoxidil treatments? I'm looking to save some money and Rogaine 2% is 55 dollars a bottle where I live.

Would I be just as well off buying the cheaper brands? Am I currently paying a premium for the Rogaine brand name solely?

I'm just wondering whether there's a difference between Rogaine and other minoxes aside from price.

Any help is much appreciated.

Some are different, but from what people have said here, Kirkland minoxidil (the cheapest anywhere) is identicle to Rogaine. If you dont have a Costco around, you can buy it online for almost as cheap.. do a search for it on http://www.froogle.com

i think its even made in the same or similar factory as brand name rogaine since the bottles/lot numbers are identical. only difference is the label.

wouldnt surprise me if upjohn just doesnt resell batches to kirkland for cheap.

If I choose to switch from Rogaine to something else, is it like starting from scratch?

Would the hair I grew back with Rogaine fall out and slowly be replaced with the new minoxidil growth? Or would my hair be unable to tell the difference?

There is no difference. Rogaine is a brand name for minoxidil made by Pfizer.
