I finally got a doctor to give me a scalp biopsy. However, I've read that it's important for the doctor to know where to take the tissue and the technique used to get the best results.

Can you share with us - what your doctor did? Where did they take the tissue and how much did they take.

Or anybody that's has had a scalp biopsy can you share your views and opinions?

Hi Vagirl,
I had my scalp biopsy on October 28th. He froze me with a needle and took a 3mm punch out of the front part of my scalp. It didn't hurt however... I did bleed a lot though so the assistant put pressure on the site until it stopped bleeding.
The biopsy told us a lot. He sent it off to a pathologist and I got the results last week. My derm thought it was chronic t.e....but its really Androgenetic Alopecia. rapid freaking Androgenetic Alopecia.. so I have my answer.... hopefully you will get answers too...

My biopsy was done with a one punch section of hair on the top, left of my scalp. Off to the side of my crown. I don't know how much he took. It did bleed quite a bit and was sore for several days.

He seemed to know what he was doing, and claims to have done many biopsies, but other than that I can't tell how well he really did it.
