Scared finasteride will do more harm than good. *advice please*

Its not the sides i'm talking about.
Alrite so my hair shedding / diffuse thinning started a few months after I stressed about my breakup with my x girflriend. Its been 8 months since then, I dont stress no more, and my hair just ISNT getting any better.
I was told it could be Telogen Effluvium, but I dont see the shedding getting any better, and I definitely am thinning pretty rapidly.
Im guessing it all started because of some hormonal imbalance or something. I've gotten blood tests done which came out normal.
I'm worried getting on finasteride will mess with my hormones even more and as a result do more damage or something.
Is that possible?
Where do I go from here. Thank you in advance.

is your hairloss in the classic male pattern baldness horseshoe shape?

If so.. you prob have male pattern baldness and the process has begun.

Go to the GP and he will be able to diagnose male pattern baldness and prescribe you finasteride.
