hello
i am 23 years old.
ever since i was a child, i had a very thin, gentle hair. the years went by and the condition become worst. i have a scary hair loss and it looks unhealthy.
when i get out of the shower, there are so many hair on my comb that i get really scared.
a week ago i went to a doctor that gave me 3 types of shampoos:
PROHAIR, KETOZOL and AGISPOR.
he told me to wash my hair with those 3 shampoos and if i wont see a change in a month he will give me a spray - MINOXIDIL.
he told me that he usually dont give it to young women (he didnt say exactly why) but we will see after the shampoo treatment.
its been a week and i dont see any change yet. i have a long smooth hair and like every woman i love my hair and i want it to stay!

what do you suggest me to do?
should i keep on going with the shampoo treatment?
and if it doesnt work, do you thing i should use the spray?

thank you

your doctor seems to have given you 2 anti fungal shampoos 1 containing ketoconazole and the other containing Bifonazole i don't know what "prohair" is but it doesn't sound medicated to me saying that idk :dunno:

if you have been diagnosed with a fungal scalp infection then it's fair that you use an anti fungal for it (fungal infections can cause hairloss)

if that fails i would advise you go get a blood test for an iron, zinc or vitamin B12 deficiency then go see a reputable tricologist and let them diagnose the problem

about the blood test - i already did one and i have low iron
but ive been taking pills to take care of this, its working! (slowly but working)

and- when i went to the doctor he just looked at my hair
touched it a little and then gave me those shampoos
only when i went to the pharmacy i understood what he gave me.
he didnt say anything about a fungus at all...
the prohair is a medical shampoo for "a thin gentle hair"

should i keep on going with the shampoos?? i dont think i have a fungus!

i would still use the ketozol and agispor because a fungal infection can be pretty nasty if left untreated so i wouldn't run the risk, imo go see your doctor in a few weeks time and ask him if you still have an infection or "ringworm"

as far as prohair goes it looks like a shampoo that is made especially for thin hair to which there are loads on the market so you can use any shampoo instead of prohair if you want but i would continue on ketozol and agispor
i know it's a slow process but treating hairloss does take 5-7 months before you can see results so you really do have to persevere

it does take a long time to treat any hair loss condition, it takes long because hair grows slowly

i would see your prescribing doctor to see why he gave you 2 anti fungal shampoos it is his obligation to tell you why he prescribed it, and to see if it's still necessary to keep using them, failing that you could get a second opinion from a dermatologist

if you're clear of any scalp infections the next thing to look at is thyroid activity and ferritin levels both can be found out by a simple blood test
if they are clear then i would recommend minoxidil
