scary side effect

Hi all,

Im 28 and over the last 2 years my hair has really gone down hill, I want to start doing something to hopefully restore some of what iv lost. Iv'e been reading and reading but the these scary sides effect loss of sex drive, unable to get an erection, is all too scary ... I understand that all finasteride works different for everyone but i just want to know what gives the least side effect and what is the min quantity i should start on ... and will i have to take it forever ??

Hi maverick.
I can't tell you what is best for you, or what brand to take because it's down to the individual. The type isn't really an issue because it's all finasteride.

I would suggest starting on the standard 1mg of any brand of finasteride, then working your dose down in increments of 0.25mg if you get sides. Taking the drug for a couple of days shouldn't give you any permanent problems.

If it bothers you too much you could consider looking for an alternative on the forums.

when i take minoxidil my Libido is down the Penis is dead

the same as a Betablocker it makes the Libido bad

I've only been on it a few days but my sex drive is fine and have no problems getting it up.

Minor ball ache that seems to be mostly gone by now.

I'll be glad to tell you more in 6 months.

Yeah the bottom line is you'll have to try finasteride to find out what's going to happen. There's no predicting how your body will react with the drug. Some people come out side effect free and with great hair for many years. Some get moderate sides, and some get some really bad sides. Some do great for years, then suddenly come down with bad sides. A small number of unfortunates have their hormones thrown completely out of whack for a long time, even after stopping.

You just have to determine how important keeping your hair really is, and if it's worth the risk, as this is by far the best treatment available.

I don't agree. In my experience, even 0.25 mg is just as potent as 1 mg, but it takes longer to hit the bottom. You're just postponing the side effects by lowering the dose. Anyway, OP shouldn't be scared of the drug. Try 1 mg a day, and just quit if you get lower libido and softer erections. It's a sign of elevated estrogen level, and you should be fine within some weeks. I noticed this within the first week, but continued for 4 months, because the package leaflet encouraged to do so. BAD idea... I think you're more likely to experience side effects if your overweight, so beware if you are.
