Can anyone recommend one? I seem to need something stronger than H&S Intensive treatment. Any effective ones available from the drugstore? What are people taking that is from a Dr.? Any unpleasant side-effects? Thanks!

Over-the-counter try Nizoral 1% and alternate with Neutrogena T-Sal Shampoo. Another salicylic shampoo is DHS; you have to ask the pharmacist for this but it's not prescription. If you want to go tar-based, Neutrogena T-Gel or DHS has a tar one as well.

Prescription: Nizoral 2% seems to be the most popular among dermatologists; there's also Loprox, Capex and a whole slew of liquids, foams and other stuff you can put on your scalp to help the seb derm.

Some people posting here have found the stronger Nizoral 2% to be very irritating and cannot use it.

You might want to ask your doctor for LIDEX. It is a cream, lotion or gel. Used at bedtime, it stays on your scalp overnight to clear seb derm. I like the cream.
Works like a charm in a day or two. Reuse at first sign of re-occurence!
