Seeking finasteride advice

Hey all,

I've been on a daily quarter tablet of Proscar for the past 10 days and I've begun to experience the often documented side effects (watery semen, loss of libido, ed, reduced genitals).

I am trying to determine what is the best thing to do:

a) Continue as is and hope for side effects to subside;
b) Halve my daily dosage; or
c) Discontinue use.

What do people think is the best plan?

Try taking 1/5 of the pill instead (1mg is the recommended daily dose of finasteride for hairloss sufferers)

Just a note here: there is always a chance of projecting those sides to yourself. Imagine a giant hand squeezing your testicles for a while and it will actually eventually hurt. Real Side-effects due to finasteride can occur though, and when they do they usually subside after some days of use till your body adjusts.

And of course the use of any drug (especially of one treating a non-life threatening condition like Androgenetic Alopecia) is not to be taken lightly. If you feel your body cannot take it, get off it without second thought.

I am certain the sides aren't imagined.

I've also been assured any sides are temporary so I will continue with 1/5 of a pill doses until my next appointment with the doctor.

If the sides continue, I'll discontinue use. Would rather a functioning wee fella than a full head of hair!

I'm sorry, are you saying that your genitals became smaller because of finasteride?!

That's freaky, I've never heard that before.

I've heard other guys complaining about loosing a couple of centimeters from their genitals due to proscar. It's a bad side effect indeed.

I tried cutting the pills into fifths instead. Some of the sides seemed to subside but the brain fog has continued and even intensified.

I've been reading that the severity of a consumer's brain fog could be linked to their sensitivity to finasteride.

What do others think I should do? Give a lower dose a go? I just can't handle the fog, I could barely interact with people and it made work near impossible.

It's false economy that the penis reduces in size due to finasteride. What this person is prescribing is the reduction of blood flow to the penis and hence, less harder.

This can be easily overcome. Take some zinc tablets or have more daily seafood into the diet. This makes a difference. Alternatively, carry out some exercise to provide more blood flow.

As for the rest, it can happen but majority of side effects do disappear by the second week.

PS. As always - I always recommend that newbies try propecia before jumping on the proscar or generic finasteride method. Confidence tends to equal no side effects!

You can't imagine side effects like watery semen and no morning erections. You'll be very lucky to get rid of them after you realize the drug won't do good for you and you quit. I still have the side effects after 3 months of not taking the drug.

Why do you suggest propecia? How does it differ? I was prescribed Proscar by my doctor so have just been following his directions...
