Sensitivity of scalp

It seems to me that different areas on my scalp-when trying the "pull test" have different sensitivity levels. The pull test is when you try to pull hairs to see if they come out easy which indicate early signs of hair loss. Is this pull test irrelevant? I've read on some websites that it can indicate early signs. What if dark thick hairs in regions that are being treated with minoxidil come out easier? Is this just an affect that minoxidil has on regions of treatment. It would only make sense because of its effects of "opening potassium channels to let the hair grow thicker". Any advice would be great!

Please no pessimists

The pull-test is completely irrelevant in my opinion. You basically force your hair out, and may damage it permanently.
The hair which comes easier has no meaning, other than it probably exiting anagen or even in catagen.

So, if you pull a hair, there are two possibilities:
1)either it comes out easy, which means it already is in dormant phase(catagen), maybe it would come out alone at the next wash or combing, no harm done to the follicle in this situation
2)either it comes out not so easy and with a mild pain, which means it is in the growing cycle(anagen), and you may even harmed the follcile, so it will grow thinner the next cycle or may be permanently dead.

IT has no relevance at all for male pattern baldness if the hair comes out easy or not.
What is relevant for "early signs of hair loss" is miniaturisation, when the hair shaft is thinner.

I disagree...

The hair pull test IS relevant. If hair comes out easier on the top then on the sides it is clear you are not stabilizing.

Also there is a link between miniturizing and hair shedding.. Hair is getting thinner, therefore hair cycles are getting shorter, so you see more hair falling out.

Though i do agree over pulling on hair can damage scalp and regrowth
