sexual sides of dutasteride compared to finasteride?

Has anyone here started to take dutasteride instead of propecia due to sexual sides? Did the sexual sides go away with dutasteride?

Small trials that report safety and efficacy without proper reporting in the real world are useless. And especially here in the US the FDA monitoring and reporting process is completely broken. Yesterday it was Baycol, Phen Fen, and Vioxx, today Avandia, and tomorrow, who knows? I'd rather trust in fairies and the Santa Claus, and that Elvis is still alive and roaming the earth.

Well it was a phase II trial with 416 subjects and lasted 6 months, so it wasn't that small... I can give the pooled BPH trial data, which covers the experience of several thousand men over 2 yrs.

I guess new drugs will always carry unknown risks.

Yep - I did and dutasteride completely f@#$ked my libido even more... my sides became so bad it took a good while to even get it up again...
I swear it even shrunk my gonads!!!!
As it is more powerful than finasteride it'll f#$% you up more than finasteride...
Not trying to be a scare monger.... just what happened to me...

Stay away from the hormone altering stuff.... it messes with you too much

I'm not going to, and I never make anything up anyway, I just try to cite evidence! 8) I think if you got sides on Propecia, you'll get them on Avodart. After all, you are inhibiting more DHT. I don't understand how some people claim the opposite. They are probably taking fake drugs bought from NROPs.

Only have myself to blame - foolishly listened to the massive dutasteride advocats (1 of whom it now seems is banned from here)... and listened to false rumours that "dutasteride doesn't always effect people like finasteride"...

However - as many people who will listen..... hairloss is not worth risking the useage of dutasteride..... (as always MY OPINION based on my bad experience)

I am sorry to hear about YOUR experiences, but many people here are taking dutasteride with no problems and the treatment has been successful.

It doesn't make sense to me either, which is why I firmly believe that most sides are in people's heads. I like to call them "HLF sides" (hairloss forum sides) which people would never have, if they took their propecia and stayed the hell off these forums. Perfect example is JM011 or whatever his name is who thought he was growing tits after 2 pills or the guy who thought Revivogen was giving him gyno.

Its true that mentally being paranoid about something plays a role in viewing side effects. In this case, there is a legitimate ground in which these side effects can occur which is via severely reducing your DHT levels. It all depends on the sensitivity of your prostate in relation to that...some will get hit with the side effects harshly and some will not get any side effects at all. Personally, I didn't get any of the usual side effects that occur with taking finasteride...my libido couldn't be any stronger lol. If you had legitimate side effects on finasteride, you'll definitely have side effects on dutasteride....dutesteride just produces a stronger result than finasteride by reducing more DHT. The only case , I would say that you would have sides on finasteride but not on dutasteride would be with acne, because while finasteride actually does increase dht levels in the skin, dutasteride also inhibits 5AR 1 which is dominant in the skin , thus reducing DHT levels there too.. In all the other cases, I would have to agree that it quite possibly was all in their heads when they took finasteride.

It seems to me from your recent posts your thinking about switching to dutasteride? am i right?

yes, still thinkin about it...but to be honest finasteride has maintained my hair well for the past 12 months, I may stick with it for awhile longer.

If it aint broken why fix it..

cuz my hair isnt perfect....If it can get even better with dutasteride than why not?
I am not paranoid about sides like 90% of people in these forums

It’s funny how there seems to be so many on the forums that say ride out the sides, it’s all in your head etc….
Very little sympathy as they themselves haven’t had to deal with them personally…
Pretty sure if you went through them to the same degree you would be of a similar opinion to myself…..
I’d also say that those who get angry about others talking about the sides I’ve encountered would not have the guts to do so to my face……

The reason I have always said - My Opinion based on my experience is to simply say - Take at your own risk...... just know there are consequences that you may have to face
