Sexual Sides on Proscar

Alright, I've been on Proscar for about 4 days now and already I feel like I'm experiencing sides?

It should be 5 days but I forgot to take my 5th yesterday and it isn't time to take todays yet.

It's obviously too early to tell if it's effecting my hair, but is it too early for sides as well? I get aroused ALOT less than normal, although I do still wake up with morning wood, but anytime I try to get an erection it takes a little more concentration than usual and the random erections through the day have ceased. That and it seems if I dont keep working at it, my erection can die alot quicker than normal.

Anyone else experienced this? I'd like to believe it's in my head, but I don't want to continue this stuff any longer than needed if this is the effect it's having.

it's not a surprise,you should exect side effects like this,but how much are you taking?

I'm splitting a 5mg Proscar pill into 5ths, like this:

I realise it's not likely I'm getting exactly 1mg this way however I imagined it would be close enough.

I'm just not sure what to do now. I can't see any reason why this would get any better if I continue the treatment? My body obviously needs that DHT to function correctly.

You are not removing DHT, you are lowering it.

Finasteride works fast; it peaks after a couple of hours and lowers DHT allready shortly after oral intake.
The human body; not so fast. The endocrine signaling system is a slow one and any changes is hormone levels takes time to excert an effect, and even longer time for the body to adapt to these changes.

Any woman who has ever taken a contraceptive pill (wich is basically synthetic progesterone, and totally messes up the "natural" female hormone cycle ) would tell you that the first coule of months is the worst- heck of a lot of side effects. But then, guess what, the body adapts to the new hormone levels and the side effects disappear.
Give it at least a couple of weeks before determining wether or not you have side effects.

I initially experienced sexual sides (weak erection, LOW libido) on 1.25 mg Proscar but they all went away after 1.5-2 months. Give your body some time to adapt. I always laugh at people who quit after like 2 weeks.. they are never giving it a chance.
