Hi all,

I am 28 and have been experiencing hair loss for probably the last 5 years, slowly progressing to a NW2.. I still have a fairly thick head of hair, but I am definitely showing signs of thinning in the crown and recession from the front.

Anyways, I have been using Pert Plus for a shampoo for the last 10 years. This has worked fine, but I have a feeling that it's a bit too strong for thinning hair. I am using Nizoral 2% every 3 days, but what do you guys recommend for my 'off' days? I am off pert and using Head and Shoulders Endurance right now, but what should I be using instead? Will anything else improve the appearance of thickness?

Also, I traditionally have used hair gel. I switched to sculpting wax since gel really isn't a good choice for thinning hair. The sculpting wax works okay, but I was wondering if there are better choices? Are there any gels/creams/waxes that make hair look thicker and hold better than wax?

Thanks!

I have the same problem ive always used gel in my hair from my teens and with diffuse thinning it has became hard to do as it amplifies the thinning spots.

I use Aloe vera Gel which i get out of holland barret. its good for helping the inflammation if you have any, it holds great and it stil lgives off the wet look and gives the appearance of thicker hair when it dries in and hardens.

tips to try

once youve washed your hair apply the aloe vera gel to the hair and style as required then when it sets, ruffle your hair to remove the gel look and then add more to your hair again to style.

The reason i do this is a find when the gel is applied the first time it reaches the bottom of the hair too and thats when the hair lookes more see through as the whole hair is wet and geled.

but when you ruffle it up so it looks dry, and then just style it only applying it to the tips and a little below you can get the style and and keep the bottom half of the hairs dry and it makes it look thicker.

also with two applications makes the hair appear thicker as its two coatings of aloe vera gelappleid to the hair. i couldnt do that with normal gel as it would be over kill of chemicals on my scalp were as aloe vera is good for the scalp and wont irratate it with too much applied.

hope that helps a little

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to check more into aloe gel.

I was at the gym yesterday and an older guy in his 50's (with more hair than me, damn him) was using the Axe gel and it looked like a good product. I have always associated axe products with being aimed at 13 yearold kids that haven't figured out how to use deoderant yet, but I will give this stuff a shot too!

I've stopped using hair gels and waxes on the top of my head as it pulls more of my hair out and also makes it looks worse especially with onger wavy hair that sticks to each other. I use a little bit on the sides and back just to keep it tidier and add a bit of sculpture.

As for shampoos, I have used Revita which I find dries out my hair, but used with Revita.COR (the conditioner) I'm quite happy with it. I find it helps to be John Rambo to get the Revita.COR out of the bottle though. I like Revita.COR but I won't be ordering it again due to the bottle design (unless I had a faulty one).

Upon reading lots of good feedback I have ordered RegenePure DR and NT products-

Can anyone suggestion care for my 100% human hair extensions? I have got ample information from http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com.au/ but still looking for more.

I'm sure the clinic you're shilling for can give you that info, /shoo spammer.

For shampoo I use nioxin system one, for conditioner I use Aveda Pure Abundance. I actually also use the pure abundance line for styling products as well. The hair potion powder is amazing as it really makes your hair thicker. Then just a dusting of the hairspray will hold it all day.

I also use some of the axe wax products at the front just to keep the thinner hairs in place and not moving around.

My favorite thickening shampoos:

- Aveda Pure Abundance
- Avalon Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo
- L'oreal Vive Pro Daily Thickening
- Jason's Thin to Thick
- Dr. Proctor's Nano shampoo

Styling products:
- Any good hair spray
- American Crew Fiber

Like you, I am actually looking for good styling products as my hair is now getting frizzy and more flyaway as male pattern baldness continues to ravage.

I use VO5 styling mousse now. It's easier to apply and doesn't pull my hair out.

I thought I was going through a massive shed when using shock waves clay, waxes, gels, etc. The Mousse is just right.
