Shampoo?

Hey guys, until recently I've relied on propecia alone to fight the battle for me, but recently I've thrown in some nizoral 1%, and am about to start using Elvive thickening shampoo tomorrow (I realise this won't actually thicken my hair, it's just a cosmetic effect, but hair's a cosmetic thing so who cares? lol). Can anyone enlighten me as the the effectiveness of these shampoos with some experiences? I've read afew times "nizoral won't prevent hair loss by itself"...so how do you know it works atall??

nizoral helps clean fungi and other stuff on your scalp so it gives better condition for your hair. alot of guys swear that the dr nano's shampoo has given them thicker hair but im extrememly undecided on it. its 70 bucks and eh idk. alot of people say Pure AbundanceTM Volumizing Shampoo is really good.

http://www.aveda.com/templates/products ... D=PROD7236

also look into the nioxin line of conditioners, they say they block DHT buidup on the scalp

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000F4GIPC/ref ... B000F4GIPC

seems to get alot of good reviews. personally im going to rotate between the nizoral/aveda and use the nioxin conditoner.

good luck

:agree:

Also, nizoral dries your hair, I strongly recommend you use a conditioner with it. Well, technically speaking after it :) .

If you can afford it, you could look into some of the more fancy conditioners. If not, just get a generic conditioner from your local supermarket.

I use nizoral + conditioner twice a week, it's good stuff...

Any of you guy's used Revita?

That seems to be getting a good rep along with Nizoral as a pretty good shampoo but if your looking more cosmetically wouldn't it be better to concentrate on a good thickening conditioner instead?

Thanks for the replies, but those products look expensive, and I'm already spending a fair amount on propecia, and I'm a poor student unfortunately. Does anyone have any experience with L'oreal Elvive thickening shampoo? It was kind of cheap, so maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Get a bottle of nizoral and use it twice a week. It's not that expensive. A 60ml bottle should last you 3 months, that would work out to be about $3 or £2 per month.

For the other days, use a generic shampoo or whatever you can afford.

Um...£40 a month, but I split the pills to save money. I'm considering buying it off Inhouse Pharmacy now.

£40.. yikes, I paid £60 for my first prescription of Propecia, £40 gets me through a year of Fincar now.. and results are good :D

Re: Shampoo

Might sound like a bit of a hippy but I tried these recently and they're AMAZING

http://www.morroccomethod.com/

Unlike other 'organic' products I've used these really are all natural.. and have had a surprisingly good effect on my hair, the total lack of chemicals does however mean the shampoo + conditioner itself does have an unhelpful texture and it doesn't foam very well, but honestly I have never used a better product.

These are however pretty expensive. I only bought the 'fire' shampoo which has apple cider in it as my scalp was a bit worse for wear, it has been VERY effective, they sent me samples of all their other shampoos and a whole load of other stuff (nice of them :)) the idea is to rotate between their 4 shampoos.

Considering buying more, would recommend.

I've switched to Fincar now aswell, so a year's supply is like £45. Also, the L'oreal elvive thickening shampoo seems to work a treat. Could be imagination, but this stuff really seems to have thickened up my left temple (the one which still has some hair covering it) and crown area nicely. I noticed when I went to my mum's house this weekend, and my nemesis (the huge bright light in the bathroom fitted just above the mirror) was having a hard time penetrating through to my scalp. Yes!

I use it everyday and I like it a lot. My hair definitely feels thicker. I think this shampoo daily + nizoral 2% twice a week is a very good, affordable combo.
