Hey there. If we're using nizoral every three days, what should we use on the days in between? I know sulfates are bad but I haven't had any luck finding anything local without them.

Shampoos that contain piroctone olamine* are the next best to use. They are proven even more effective than Ketoconazole at increasing the diameter of existing follicles.

*Body Shop Ginger Shampoo and Head & Shoulders are two I know that contain it

You probably won't need to use another shampoo after using Nizoral for a few months since Nizoral will pretty effectively make your hair cob web thin.

That's interesting because just about everyone else says the opposite?

I was recently in the same situation as you gte, trying to come up with a first regimen, asking for advice. What I learned is there are some people that are really dedicated to the subject of male pattern baldness, giving great advice based on studies and documented effects, and some people that have no clue what they are talking about, and just confuse you. The user above saying nizoral thins the hair being among the latter. Nizoral is well proven to help stop hair loss and is even part of the established big 3. A lot of people can confirm its effect. Listen to that and not some random guy saing he believes nizoral thins the hair.

That advice applies to all hair loss products you may consider. You are always going to find a lot of people having a lot of different opinions, some being really stupid. Dont make your choices based on what one or two forum posters say. Make good research and look for studies, facts and people with real insight on the subject.

Why not use it everyday? The stated directions of using every 3 to 4 days is for anti-drandruff purposes, not fighting male pattern baldness. As an anti-androgen, its pretty weak, so why not use it everyday? I'm guessing its efficacy is greater at 7x per week vs 3x. I use a regular shampoo initially to get everything out of my hair and scalp, then use Nizoral, hopefully getting a little better penetration.

The bottom line is that since stopping Nizoral, my hair has goten significantly thicker.

For close to a year I had faithfully stuck to a regimen of taking Dutasteride and Finasteride every night, applying 2 ml of Minoxidil morning and night and shampooing with Nizoral three times a week. I noticed that I would rarely ever shed any hair and I thought perhaps I had managed to halt my hair loss; however, after a few months I could notice that my hairs were in fact getting thinner and thinner and my hair line was progressively getting worse. I attributed this to my male pattern baldness becoming more aggressive and never considered that the Nizoral may be responsible. In a last ditch effort to maintain the razor thin hair I had, I started applying Nizoral every day. That's when my hair really went to hell. It finally dawned on me that it was perhaps the Nizoral all along that had been damaging my hair and not allowing the dutasteride, finasteride and minoxidil to work. After doing a lot of research on the Internet, I discovered there were many other people who experienced significant thinning of their hair after using Nizoral. For the past month, I have stuck with the Dutasteride / Finasteride / Minoxidil regimen, dropped the Nizoral, and my hair has been getting noticeably thicker each passing week. In my opinion, the big three should be changed to the big 2.

I have used revita the last coupe of weeks, but I'm not sure what to think of it. It supposedly contains 1% keto (although thats impossible to get confirmed), and is recommended to be used at least 5x a week. I seem to be getting scalp acne from it though, and I dont know how much those extra ingredients really contribute to help stop hair loss. It could also be that alternating it with 2% nizoral (once a week) is to much keto for your scalp.

I will finish the bottle and see if the scalp acne subsides, but at this point I dont think I will be buying a new bottle. Before I have just used a cheap supermarket "hair strengthening shampoo" containing arginin. I might go back to using that. All in all I dont really think it matters that much what shampoo you use on your off days (as long as its not a keto shampoo), as keto is the only proven shampoo-ingredient to help stop hair loss. But I'd be happy to hear other opinions on that.

Been using nizoral 2x a week for almost 2 years. Definitely has not thinned my hair and I think it's helped in maintaining it, seeing as hair loss has slowed down and my only other anti androgen during that time was Saw palmetto.
