There are a few timeline threads but there could be many more. I hope you guys are willing to share your story on propecia (and maybe supplements) alone to give the starters (like me) some hope.

Because everybody reacts differently and because of the concensus on staying on propecia for at least 1 year to conclude if it works for you, i would like the 'long time' users to share only. We needs lots of stories so people can see if one story fits them to give them hope. I hope you can take 5 minutes to share your story with the world with a timeline like below. Thanks for helping out!

Hi I have been using finasteride 1mg daily for 28 months. Here is my timeline.

0-3 months: Didn't really notice much difference but was happy I could get on something that could potentially prevent me from going bald. Maybe towards the end of this period I realized my hair had gotten a tiny bit worse.

3-6 months: My hair looked absolutely terrible, worst it has ever looked. I was shedding a lot and never really shedded before. Almost every day was a bad hair day. I couldn't even style it it had gotten so limp and lifeless. This was the initial finasteride shed from the drastic change in DHT levels probably. I think it is important to keep your hair short during this shedding period and I probably noticed this shed more than others do cause my hair was on the longer side.

6-9 months: I got a haircut at around the 6 month mark and all of a sudden my hair looked good again. I could style it again and it was looking pretty thick again. I would say I was probably back around baseline.

9-12 months: Not much change. Hair looked good. Probably still hovering around baseline.

12-18 months: Maybe another minor shed during this period, but no where near the initial shed. Could have just been a seasonal shed. Other than that hair still looked good and I was hovering around baseline.

18+ months: Noticed my hair had gotten much thicker. Like teenage thick. Also my NW1.5-2 hairline has recovered a bit in the temples and I think new hair is slowly growing thicker during each hair cycle. Bad hair days are very rare and people actually have commented on how good my hair looks. Hopefully I persist in these improvements but I will be happy to just maintain where my hair is at now.

On finasteride for four years, worse then baseline. Might've slowed down loss.
