Shave head before surgery?

Is it better for the Dr. to shave down the top before a hair transplant? My Dr. said that I could keep it at whatever length I want but I noticed most people w/ pics on the forum shave down, and when I got my first hair transplant they shaved down to. This time they are saying I can leave it normal length to have hair hide the grafts. Any thoughts?

Shaving down makes the job alot easier for the surgeon and also reduces the risk of shockloss, most of the top docs insist on it.

That's interesting, I could just cut it short before I go in to do it, how short do you think is short enough? Any other opinions on this? B/c the doctor is supposed to be one of the best.

IMHO, I don't believe shaving the recipient area down will help to prevent or even reduce the level of shockloss. Shockloss can be attributed almost soley to how the scalp responds to the trauma.

To be honest I agree with you, but I was just stating what I've been told.

You bet. This issue came up on another thread and some of us posted commentaries on.
