Shed On Dutasteride Increase Normal?

Hi, first post here. I was on finasteride from 2014-2016. Seemed to slow my temple recession and I had no sides, so my Doctor moved me to dutasteride. From 2016 until October of this year, I took dutasteride (0.5) 2-3 times a week, EOD at most. In the past year, I had noticed that my hair might have been getting a little thinner on the top of my head , and I was getting to the age where male pattern baldness dropped nukes on the men in my family, so Doctor and I agreed to take me up to dutasteride every day.

I never had a seriously bad “shed” or EOD dutasteride, but since I started taking dutasteride every day....holy sh*t. It’s not the horror stories you sometimes see online but my hair has very suddenly gotten way thinner than it’s ever been. Hairline still seems to be holding strong. And when I first went to every day I got a seriously itchy scalp on occasion.

is this normal at all? Can you have an exponentially greater shed switching from EOD to every day? Or am I fucked and this is me just going bald? Appreciate any input!

Haha I'm in the same position as you. Just started around 2 weeks ago yet somehow my hair feels thinner.
If its helps, I never had a "shed" per say but my hair density is definitely decreasing.

Fortunately I have had no side effects but I have no idea if it is working. Can anyone confirm these capsules are legitimate?

Hey, i myself got horrible itches and scalp acne when i first started dutasteride. I asigned the blame to the Testosterone increase that comes with dutasteride, and being an individual very susceptible to Testosterone, dutasteride caused me a hormonal imbalance which affected my sebaceous glands and i was drowning in sebum (particularly in my face and scalp). The only thing that saved me was Accutane, and since i stopped it (its been a month and a half) it seems my body is back to normal again. Sebum can infact induced itching, and itching can induce hair loss. I would advise you to opt for Nizoral (ketoconazole) and use it 3 times a week while showering. Hairloss is not only atributed to DHT, Testosterone also plays a role albeit weaker than DHT.
