hi all, been loosing hair since i was 17 (frontal hair loss). about a half a year ago i startet to treat my male pattern baldness with propecia and minoxidil 5% (liquid).
after a month or so of CRAZY shedding where i actually lost almost all of my frontal hair, i started to see the results, and what results they were:
incredibly 90% of my youth frontal hairline was growing back with a vengeance, people couldn't believe it, it was almost as if i had a transplant. the shedding was history. well satisfied i thought i will give ROGAINE FOAM a try. started using it last month and what can i say: i started shedding again. i'm really worried, is there a possibility that rogaine foam is not effective to me as the liquid was? or are we talking about the great shed before the great regrowth (once again)? concerning the fact that i already have been on minoxidil, i find it distracting that i should experience that shed again, hopefully i'm wrong & it is a sign that the foam is kicking in strong.
i really need some advice from you guys, thinking on going back to the nasty liquid, too early to judge? what do you think?
is it possible that the shed is due to propecia?

please post your thoughts

b. regards
:)

Hey nilos23. If you are worried, why not switch back to using the liquid, except only use it once per day at night with the foam in the morning?

I started using the foam a while back having not used the liquid, but now am doing foam in the morning and liquid at night. It's the best of both worlds, foam leaves hair looking nice in the morning, in the evening get all greased up with the liquid, but at least it's cheap!

stick with the foam man, others have noticed an increased shed with the switch as well probably linked to increased absorption which is the reason foam is supposed to be more effective in the first place.

if you can ride it out, then do it.

I've just recently switched from liquid to foam about a month ago.
The shedding initially for the first few weeks was horrible and worse than anything i've yet experienced since making the decision to treat the condition.
This past week almost as quickly as it started the shedding has stopped dead and I can now see new hairs sprouting all along my hair line and the rest feels much thicker.
Seriously if all the short hairs go terminal which is looking likely i'll be on course to have the hairline back that I had ten years ago.
Ride it out and stick with the foam, i'd never go back and i've got about 10 month's supply of liquid gathering dust in the cupboard.
