Shedding or Receeding? How do you tell?

Hi guys. I've been on finasteride (no minoxidil) for 9 1/2 months now. I started at .5 finasteride then moved up to 1 I think at about the 4 month mark.

My hairline has continued to receed, and I also feel like I have slight diffuse thinning on the front area now too. When I part my hair, it's obvious that I have more hair as I go further back on my head.

Is the hairline receeding still considered a shed? and will grow back (maybe) around the 1 year mark? or is it just not working for me?

Do people who shed on finasteride generally shed all around or just in the front?

hi
nobody knows what's what...it might be shed and you might grow all back or it might be just your aggressive bald gene kicking in. I would say wait and see til you hit the 1 year mark! Good luck!

Go see a hairloss specialist. The amount of miniaturisation should give some idea of whether it's working. If thicker and larger hairs are starting to come through, but shedding, then it's probably working, the hair growth is just out of sync (or should that be in sync?). If you book an appointment again for 4-6 months after that, then they can tell you very clearly if there has been any improvement.
