Hey Everyone!
I find myself lurking on this forum sometimes never, others times a few visits a week, and its time I throw in a post or 2. I'm 24, and am losing my hair from the middle of my head and forward. More specifically, my hairloss is in the front middle, gradually moving outward. I'm a diffuser... lucky me!! I wish I had more temple recession and a thick centre, what can you do, eh? This begun to be noticeable when I was 20-21. I've tried minoxidil and finasteride, however only for short periods of time. I started finasteride (1mg) in late Jan and got off it in March. I did notice sexual side-effects, and breast tenderness. I went from the ability to hold an errection for hours, to not being in the mood whatsoever. Two week ago I started to get back on finasteride, with the intent of adding minoxidil and nizoral to my daily routines, to hit this head on and hope for the best. The side-effects of finasteride had started again, and as of now I decided to stop finasteride completely. I've done ALOT of research on the common ways to 'attack' hairloss, and using finasteride is far too risky in my opinion. I decided I'm going to stick with 5% minoxidil twice daily, nizoral and MSM (3000mg) for at least a year, and see how the results are. Some people are getting great results with this combo.
I'd like to talk about finasteride for a moment. I've read ALOT of posts, from people that do have many of the major side-effects caused by, in my case, propecia. And I ask you, why do you continue your use after having these negative effects? I work out often, and am very active with soccer, and I've still gained mass in my breasts from this drug!!! From what I've seen with many of your posts, is that some of you suffer from depression, as a result of your hairloss. Sure, it bugs me when people make the natural comments, "are you losing your hair?", but really... who cares?
If you ask me, the media's brainwashing is the cause for this misconception of baldness being 'bad', or 'not acceptable'. You have to think about all the good you have going for you, and stop focusing on irrelevant things such as this!!! Easier said than done, I know. I find myself having no problems meeting and hooking up with sexy women in clubs, regardless of my hairloss. It's your mindset, and your ability to see beyond all this superficial stuff!! Hair manuplication is not too far away, and there are some fantastic doctors out there performing hair transplant's. If minoxidil proves to do nothing within a year, I'll look into hair transplant's as a more viable choice. Luckily I live just outside of Toronto and will probably pay Dr Armani a visit soon.
Anyways, just my $0.02. Cheer up guys! There's much more to life than hair!!!
