Hi all,
I'm a NW3. I've been taking daily finasteride the last 2 years (switched to .5mg dutasteride 2 months ago) and had a 1200 FUE transplant done Dec 18, 2018. So I am almost exactly 6.5 months out. The temples were filled in and the hairline was lowered slightly. At 6.5 months out, the transplanted hair is growing in nicely. HOWEVER, I experienced significant shock loss in what was previously strong, native, non-receding hair, located around the recipient transplant areas.
I see very small baby hairs in the shock loss areas, and here and there there is normal grown hair, but for all intents and purposes I am still essentially waiting for the shock loss hair to regrow.
I can't seem to get a standard uniform opinion on shock loss regrowth on the internet. Some posts say shock loss is very rare, others say it is common. Some say regrowth happens in 3 months. Others say a year. Since I was on finasteride prior and during the surgery, I'm not sure if this was a human error, or an uncontrollable event that couldn't be defended against.
My primary question is when can I expect my shock loss hair to regrow? Is 6.5 months in too soon? What about 8 months? Or should my shock loss hair have definitely grown in at 3 months and am I f*cked?
Also general hair transplant shock loss thread. Please share your experiences with hair transplant shock loss and if/when it regrew.
Thanks!
