Should I color my hair?

I'm asian with jet black hair. I read an article that gives a suggestion to color hair a lighter shade, does this really help? I don't have much receding in my hairline, it's just going thinner all around. You can't really notice I'm losing my hair except when there is direct light or sunshine...but I know it'll get worse. I slowly realized I was losing my hair after a few comments here and there.

Anyone know if coloring will further damage my hair follicles?

The first was my aunt, I was at her house and I guess there was a spotlight right on my head=) She looked and said "why isn't there any hair in front! Maybe you'll end up bald like uncle=) AHHHHH!!!! My dad said it too a month afterwards, though my mom cut in and said it's not a problem, I've always had thin hair. Btw, my dad is totally bald like Jean-luc Picard =) I knew I couldn't deny it anymore when I went to Supercuts one day. The hair guy there wet my hair down, put me in the chair and just said to me "huh, you're hair is starting to thin eh?" DAAAMMMN, that was pretty unnecessary, but I'm glad it happened. Not very subtle was he? He's not even my regular stylist or anything.

Anyway, I have my proscar, ready to get on some kind of treatment. I hope I respond well with it....though I'm a little worried. I think I read somewhere that asians don't respond that well to it. I also read that asians thin all around, which is exactly what I'm experiencing. I have minoxidil ready to use, but someone on a different board suggested I wait and give proscar a try first.

Yeap, colouring does help hide it. The closer the shade to your skin, the harder it is to distiguish the two! Colouring hair probably does damage hair follicles.. if you do it often. Just ask for something thats not strong.. ie don't bleach your hair blonde!

hehe asian mums... mine told me there's no problem either, then when faced with unequivocal proof, blamed it on the gel i used, then on milk proteins, then on the shampoo, and when i finally went to the doctor to get proscar, she said i would never be able to have kids!

haha.. good luck with your treatment!
