Ok been on it 5 months...

first three months were great
second two months I have lost half the density on top of my head and my tmples and hairline have receeded an inch each with no sign of regrowth.
I also have a large bald spot suddenly in the front of my hairline where I had a thick hairline 2 months ago.
The hairs continue to fall with no sign of regrowth and my hair won't see in the new year at this rate...

This ain't no shed folks.

the finasteride wouldn't make your hair worse. it's either a shed or your male pattern baldness is getting very agressive. if it's the latter, getting off finasteride will only make things worse. Look into dutasteride.

If it is no finasteride shed, stopping it doesn´t make sense. I would try dutasteride as well. Good Luck!

assuming you are slightly overplaying the recession/loss in your head ,as many people do ,i would definitely stay on finasteride.

i too had a good first few months but have shed a lot since, ive been on finasteride for 13 months and am seeing results.

i do not expect to see optimum results til at least 15.16 months ,prob 2 years

i would absolutely not give it up til you have been on it at least a year

If you're not getting side effects, you should stick with it. I would have stuck with it had I not gotten the fabled "brain fog". Now my hair is not looking so hot...

Ok I'm not getting side effects but this change in my hair happened over the course of a week, really dramatically and it's continued to get worse each and every day and it's been 2 1/2 months shedding now. Surely it's no coincidence that it's started around the fabled 3 month shed mark on propecia?

I swear to you that this is no exageration as I can actually notice the difference each day!

this isn't a shed! I've lost whoe inches off my hairline and temples and sides and the whole top has thinned out.

What a joke this drug is, it's crippled me.

Ok I've officially quit the sh*t as of today.

Hi,
If you haven't read my story it's essentially that first 3 months on 1/4 proscar were grand and then an almighty shed hit which decimated my hair for 2 months and is still going.

Entire top thinnned right out and temples and hairline went back about an inch. Front thinned out til I could no longer spike it and I can literally pull hairs out without doing anything.

The difference between now and a month or two ago is shockingly bad.

So I decided to quit taking the tablets and after ony two days my hair already feels stronger and there's nothing coming out when I run my hand through my hairline.

Should I therefore quit or is this goign to lead to even bigger problems down the line....

basically guys,

HELP!!!

This is the kind of post that worries me when I took first Finpecia Tab today.

In your situation I would stop or at least reduce the dose to .25Mg.

Hope very much its a shed and it all comes back..you have to think positive somehow.

All the best...

if you have male pattern baldness then you have already lost your hair..so what do you have to lose?

all that can happen is that you actually halt och regrow some hair.

take pictures keep track.
go to a doctor who knows about skin and hair and ask what they think.

and hug someone.

if everything else fails..buy a nintendo for the money you wont spend on hairdrugs and invite a friend and play until eyes fall out.

I am considering stopping Propecia after shedding for six months. I am interested to know what your (JDW's) experience is like after stopping Propecia. Please update this forum for us in a few weeks or so to report if more/less/none is falling out.

At the moment there is A LOT less of fallout but the damage has been done already I fear. I'll keep people updated.
