Should I shave my head?

A lot of guys don't want to do it because their "hair wont grow back".
I'm losing my hair at the top and I do know that is grows a lot slower than the hairs on my sides and back.

I'm afraid it'll look funny in weeks to come as the top is growing slower than the sides and back.

I'm also afraid of the "it wont grow back".

The top of my head is also very oily so shaving it hopefully means I don't need to wash it daily?

Also shaving it might give a chance of growing thicker hair? I'm currently taking Propecia so I might have a chance????

Your opinions?

Currently in Australia we're about to have a yearly fund raiser called World's Greatest Shave for Leukaemia.

At my workplace they are planning to do it.
Question is, should I participate?

I think it would be a good chance to see if the shaved look suits you.

I'm just afraid it wont grow back. It looks like the hairs on top of my hair only grow 2cm in 5 months!!!
That's very slow growth!

Is washing my hair daily good? It gives more chance of me losing hair.
I heard somewhere that washing your hair daily isn't a good idea but I have no choice as it's so oily by the end of each day.

They will grow back if you get on a proven treatment/combination of treatments.

I would honestly go ahead and shave your head. Try it out. You'll never know.

As far as washing your hair goes, it has absolutely no bearing on your genetic hairloss. None.

Shaving your hair will have no effect on whether it will or will not grow back. Washing your hair daily - especially with a decent shampoo, recommended from these forums - will definately help the health of your scalp, so you should be doing that anyway. Buy a thickening shampoo such as American Crew or Redken for men.

Also, I am thinning on top and have a receding hairline and surprisingly it doesn't look too bad when I shave it (a number 4). If anything it looks better. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised.

And anyway, even if you don't like it, it would have been for good cause!!

DO IT!!!

If you are worried about it growing back unevenly just trim the sides down every week so it'll look the same.
