I'm only about a week into taking finasteride for my advancing norwood 2 hair. Should I wait to use minoxidil to see how finasteride works or should I just start it now as well?

id wait to see what the finasteride does for you, otherwise you won't know which product is giving you the growth.

The way I look at it, if you want to regrow hair, use minoxidil, if you want to maintain, just use propecia and don't use minoxidil.
Seeing that you are a NW2, I don't think I'd get on minoxidil yet because it gets annoying applying that stuff twice a day.

Minoxidil regrows more hair mass than propecia, but can't maintain it without propecia.

Propecia might regrow all the hair you want, in which case why use a topical. Minoxidil will work just as well later, unlike propecia which is best used ASAP.
However, if you have a lot of filling in to do, then the probability that propecia alone will give you what you want is lower. So you might as well start minoxidil sooner. You must decide if you want better results now in exchange for not knowing what propecia will do and taking minoxidil the rest of your life.
If you get off minoxidil, you will not lose any more hair than if you had just been on propecia the whole time. But once you loose it, you need 2 months to a year to get it back.
