I already posted a thread about my hairloss which you can find here with pics as well:

Now I just want to know whether you guys recommend I start Propecia or not. I am 19 years old and I already went to the dermatologist who did blood tests on me and everything came back normal. I got a prescription of Propecia from him and filled it out. I started Propecia for a few days but stopped because people were saying I am too young.

Also, I first started noticing my hairloss around a month ago, which is around the same time I started smoking cigarettes and marijuana heavily. I also lost a good 12 pounds in the last 2 months just due to poor dietary habits. Maybe all this could be causing my hairloss, but I don't know for sure.

I just want to know whether or not starting Propecia would be a good thing. Keep in mind I have to take the MCAT in April because I will be applying to med school, and if the mental fog associated with finasteride is real, then that might screw me over. If that's that case I'd rather wait until after I take the MCAT to start finasteride.

Do you guys think I should start Propecia?

hello my personal opinion (which prolly aint worth 2 cents but i ll say it anyway)is id wait awhile because i think your to young to be taking pills, i waited 6 years i started balding at 26 and now at 32 its hit a point where i really have to start doing someting about it.between the ages of 26 and 32 i feel and believe my body was still growing , my bones have thickened up and ive put on 20lbs and feel alot stronger then i did at at 26..from the time i was about 19 until about 26 i weighed 175lbs now i weigh 195 and feel alot stronger , so you may want to consider staying off medication because it may have side effects on you.... that doesnt mean you shouldnt begin to attack your hairloss but id just look for lighter treatments such as shampoosor perphaps or natural treatments-not sure about those see a professional..i am sure this will slow down the process of your balding and perphaps be better of physically for you , until one day when you feel its the right maybe 5 years from now you can go all out with the big3 and by then maybe there will be better treatments also .

finasteride will VERY unlikely affect your concentrations or how well you'll do in a test. you're NOT too young! get on it ASAP (if it's male pattern baldness what u have) and only go off of it if your sides (which are unusual) are untolerable!
