I have only been taking propecia for 6 weeks. I hadn't been suffering from any side effects until this week. It's been near impossible to get an erection and when I did it was nowhere near the way it was before taking propecia.

I was hoping I wouldn't have this side effect :( :(

Before you jump ship, make sure you are really experiencing this side effect. I think too many guys have one instance where they can't get hard on the drop of a coin and start freaking out that they are having side effects, which leads to excessive worry. If you are trying to get it up to have sex, then thats another added pressure worrying you.

Before I ever went on finasteride, I went through phases where I couldn't always get it up, even for sex. It was always due to stress, either general or in-the-moment pressure.

If you can't get it up when you are completely relaxed, with no drugs or alcohol in your system, then there might be a problem. Morning wood is a good guage as well, but not every man gets that.. I have it maybe a few times a week, and its usually only when I get to sleep in (as opposed to being up at 6:00 for work).

Maybe some encouragement, i've been on finasteride for over 2 months without any ED problems or other sides to speak of.. Except for a testicle ache that lasted a few days.

hi mate,
sorry to hear, its common to get weak wood while being on finasteride, mine came after the 3 day and lasted for around 10 days or so, but still got morning wood,
i would say stick to it for a couple of more weeks, and it should subside,
and when it does you will feel better and be in a better mental state about finasteride

good luck and keep us posted

By all means, keep going, but your testosterone/estrogen ratio has shifted in favor of estrogen if you lose morning erections. Transparent prostate fluid indicates DHT deficiency and estrogen dominance. Regular testicle aching is a bad sign too. It means that the testicles are shrinking because of less stimulation from the HPTA - which means that your estrogen level is increasing, and you testosterone level is decreasing. Testicle aching now and then for a short period of time isn't anything to worry about, but beware of regular aching.
