Should I up my dose of finasteride? Will it make a difference?

I've been using 1.25mg Finasteride for about 2 1/2 years. It's impossible to say what would have happened without it, but I've still been slowly thinning and receding at the hairline and the scalp show-through is starting to look pretty bad.

Would it do any good to up my dosage to 2.5 or even 5mg? I feel like I remember reading about people doing this. (I'm using the Cipla generic version so the cost isn't as rough as it could be.)

Good question. Although I'll doubt you'll get a definitive answer. Just anecdotes.

u dont wanna be taking 5mg a day really of finasteride.

if u wanna try anything, try dutasteride because that shits stronger, but take at your own risk, coz no1 knows the true long term effect.

Dosage

I have experienced very good results with this regimen: Propecia 1mg every 72 hours (started out at every 2 days for over a year just for posterity) - Note:DHT within the hair follicles is blocked by finasteride for several days - an increase in the amount of finasteride above what you have been taking will make no difference, minoxidil 5%, Revivogen every couple of days of the week (very messy product and beware it may inflame your scalp, especially combined with minoxidil), biotin (2-3,000mcg a day) and vitamins. Simply using finasteride will not maintain the hair - minoxidil will aid in that objective for optimum results. If you begin using minoxidil you will probably experience a shedding phase. Good luck!

P.S. Finasteride is a bit "hard" on the liver - unless you are using this product for prostate illness there is no need to take more than a 1mg dose every 72 hours.

iv sed it before, and il say it again. just take the dose that they recommend, that was what the study was based on!

if u care about your hair that much, u wont waste no time experimenting!

they researched this already. 1 mg/day regrow 82% as much as 5mg/day, and 0.2 mg/day regrows 83% as much as 1mg/day. dutasteride regrows more on the top and crown than finasteride does, but finasteride regrows more in the temples than dutasteride does, though 0.1mg/day does the same as 5mg finasteride.

use minoxidil 5% ($6) and nizoral 1%

they work on the whole scalp and you don't have to get it everywhere or leave it in as long as they say or continuously.

dutasteride may be dangerous. it is a last resort for people suffering from bladder problems. maybe put it in your minoxidil if money is no object.
