Should I upgrade from finasteride to dutasteride?

Hi Guys,

You might remember my posts from way back where after diffuse thinning, I took propecia and after about 8-9 months, my hair came back super thick. I also took minoxidil for my hairline.

However, after more than 2 years sinced I popped my first propecia, I am starting to diffuse thin again, not below baseline, but I can feel it starting to progress in that direction, where the texture of the hair starts feeling finer, and it is harder to style the hair. My hairline has also receded a bit, Norwood 1.5 style.

I am wondering if since I was a great responder to finasteride, will I see results again if I upgrade to dutasteride? Or would it not be worth it? Opinions?

in my opinion, you should stick to propecia and see if you are just going through a temporary shed. if you had that great results then you are a great canidate to have success for atleast the 5 year mark that merck has stated propecia starts to loose its effectiveness. congrats on your success up to this point. happy for you man.

Buzz the top of your head with a 7/8 inch attachement and the sides with a 3/8 inch attachment. This will look good if you are a 1.5 norwood. I would stick with finasteride for a little longer.

I would stick with finasteride a little longer but if you see finasteride has definitely stopped working then you don't have anything to lose by switching to dutasteride.

finasteride stopped working for me after about 3 years so it doesnt last 5 years for everyone.

I switched to dutasteride & since then my loss has basically halted.
