should you apply minoxidil to dry or to wet hair?

Applying to wet hair would quite possibly give you faster results up top....

...so long as you don't mind putting on excess weight around your belly, and developing fatty, rubbery cheeks and a double chin, amongst other side effects.

If you want to be on the safe side, apply to dry hair only!

i personally apply it to dry hair becuase the rogaine booklet clearly states
SCALP SHOULD BE THROUGHLY DRY BEFORE APPLICATION

The rogaine book also clearly states that it only works on the crown and everyone knows that is utter bullshit. Applying to a hydrated scalp increases absorption of minoxidil. This may possibly improve ones results, although not guaranteed of course. It also increases ones chance of side effects such as elevated heart rate and water retention. This is probably why it is recommended it only be applied to a dry scalp.

Bottom line: applying minoxidil to a wet head is going to increase the absorption rate per application; just as going from 2% to 5% minoxidil is going to increase absorption, or from 5% to 10% or 15%. And yes, all of these things have the potential to increase the likelihood of side effects. It's up to the individual to decide what's best versus the benefits.

BTW, I applied minoxidil for a few months to only a damp scalp. And while it probably increased absorption by three times, I only saw maybe a 10 percent increase in hair volume. And while I did experience side effects -- such as rapid heartbeat, and chest tightness -- they pretty much dissipated after a week or two.

To be honest, I now think the warning about applying to a wet head is much ado about nothing. Perhaps Pfizer merely was protecting themselves from any potential lawsuits.

I think you mean "Wet Scalp" (since that's what matters)

If you apply it to wet scalp, you get more absorbtion than with dry scalp.

But take in mind, that it doesn't mean you will get better results.

Also, Rogaine prospect ask to apply it on Dry scalp. I would follow the directions.

I only apply it on wet scalp, if I can't wait until it dries up. But that only happens once in a while.
